If only Angelica Houston had been younger.... She would have made a fantastic Arwen, methinks. Arwen's voice was rather weak, although she was an elf. It could have been stronger. And I don't like Liv Tyler much. ARWEN STOLE GLORFINDEL'S ROLE!

Ok origanlly I would have said Liv sucked at the role and anyone would have been better but now I really liked Liv in the role of Arwen and she really fits the description
1. Shes the second most naturally beautiful woman according to this poll that was taken by experts
2. Her voice changed a lot from what it usually is so you have to giver her some credit
3. Her acting really wasn't that bad in fact I thought she did very well.
4. People keep freaking out about her stealing Glorfindels role but it's not like it ruined the movie. In the cartoon version Legolas was the one that took the role. Even though Arwen also did some things Arwen wouldn't normally do she was still a great character
All in all I think Liv did a pretty good job considering this was a major movie and Arwen is so different from her normal self

Glorfindel was in the cartoon one.. I just saw it like a week ago. Polls don't mean much. According to one poll, Johnny Depp is the sexiest man alive. Her voice was okay for that role, but it still bothers me. her acting is fine.

My First Choice: I agree with our webmistress (under the poll) that Catherine Zeta-Jones would be a beautiful Arwen...I don't think she is too old, for Arwen herself was over 2000 (and elves tend to marry around 50!) 2nd Choice: I also think that one of the sirens in 'O Brother Where Art Thou', Musetta Vander, could make a nice Arwen too. My Dream Choice: this one has to be a dream, because it could never happen Why? Simply because the woman I think would make the 'Ultimate Arwen' is none other than Grace Kelly True, she has blonde hair, but what are wigs for, anyway Have you seen her in the 1956 film 'The Swan'? It's what first gave me this idea...

Indeed, Catherine Zeta-Jones would have done beautifully. But, I am happy with Liv. I think she did rather well.

I couldn't imagine anyone else as Arwen other than Liv. She did such a great job, and she's a beautiful person. (Even though I think that she looked terrible at the Oscars!!) I do think that Catherine Zeta-Jones would be a good Arwen if she was cast as her, but I loved Liv's performance.

I can't imagine a better actor for Arwen than Liv Tyler... Now that's someone that comes the closest to looking like an elf... Angelina Jolie's very pretty, but Liv is Arwen to me...

I don't particularly care who *plays* Arwen....the role should have been much, much, much smaller. Cut out every kiss, cut out every Arwen scene except, perhaps, one or two in Rivendell and the Coronation. Between Galadriel and Eowyn, there is beauty, power, and courage in the female characters. Arwen is presented in the book (mostly) through Aragorn's perception of her, and scenes like the EE scene when he sings of Beren and Luthien would have made the story much more romantic. So, yeah, I'm prejudiced. I don't like Arwen or Liv Tyler. I don't get why she was billed before Viggo Mortensen for RotK.... But, if you like her, I didn't mean to offend anyone. Just my opinion...
