No no no no...not Catherine Zeta-Jones. She is not what I picture an elf to be like at all. I think, if I had to pick someone besides Liv, it would be Natalie Portman.

I think, if I had to pick someone besides Liv, it would be Natalie Portman. i agree- catherine zeta-jones just isnt elfy enough. i think liv did a great job, and lots other actors (well, maybe actresses) would have done just as good, but in a different way. if i had tp make a choice though, it would be Nat.

Michelle Pfeiffer would have been a great Arwen...
She did a movie in the 80s called Ladyhawke where she was definately etherial enough to pull it off.

Once you get over the initial Glorfindel-annoyance, as I like to call it, Liv was perfectly fine as Arwen.
EW! Never Natalie Portman. She CANNOT act.

She can act, but I think she would have made a terrible Arwen:P And I never really was all that sad that Glorfindel wasn't the one who saved Frodo, as I never really liked him

Agree. Besides I didn't mind that he wasn't in the movie, it wouldn't make any sence since he wouldn't make an important role in the rest of the movies. It was better to use that valuable screen-time to focus on Arwen so that in the end of RotK you wouldn't wonder "who's that elf Aragorn is about to marry. Where the ... did she come from??" (for those who haven't read the books).

Liv did great as Arwen, but she wasn't how I pictured Arwen, I can't think of anyone who would look like how I picture Arwen though.

Liv did great as Arwen, but she wasn't how I pictured Arwen, I can't think of anyone who would look like how I picture Arwen though. Everyone pictures the characters differently. I remember being extremely disappointed with Harry Potter b/c the characters were nothing the way I imagined them. (Except for Hagrid... he was pretty close) Liv did very well as Arwen. I do like her very much. I used to think Catherine Zeta-Jones would be a good Arwen, but now that I think about it, I can't imagine it. She isn't really the elf type... she's got a flashy, showy kind of beauty. The thing I like a lot about Liv is that she is one of those people who makes you look at her twice. It takes more than one look at Liv to notice how good of an actress and how absolutely gorgeous she is. As for Natalie Portman, I completely disagree. I don't think she is good enough as an actress to pull off Arwen. She's very pretty, and could look like Arwen, but she doesn't act well enough. (Natalie fans, please don't hurt me!!!) Anyways, too much typing!!! I thought Liv was great as Arwen.

[glow=purple,2,300] I still say Michelle Pfieffer.... Liv did an excellent job, but there are other actresses who could have done just as well. [/glow]

i really can't picture anyone else as arwen than liv. i thought she did an amazing job!! she came off as a very talented actress!! nobody can match her in my opinion. and just because arwen stole glorfindels role....doesn't mean its liv's fault! blame the writers not the actors!! they can't always change everything.

I've loved Liv since before LoTR, so I think she was absolutely perfect for the role.
Her voice was perfect, her elvish was incredible - she was perfect.
I loved the Flight to the Ford scene, and honestly, I want more Arwen in the movies! Helm's Deep Arwen would make me cry in rage, but there were other ways they could have worked her in.
That being said - I'd like to see the footage of Arwen at Helm's Deep, just to see it.

Ok, people say 'Stop freaking out abvout Glorifindel!'
If you actually READ THE BOOKS maybe you would feel the SAME WAY! Dont see the movie and think you've got the WHOLE STORY. You have a summary, and an incorrect one at that! Please, I wish Arwen was mentioned only once or twice! Not saying she did bad, but STICK TO THE BOOKS!
