For the record, Frodo dose not die. Just because he got stung by Shelob dosen't mean hes dead.

I would hate it if Frodo did die in the book though, how scary

Well, there are many ways to look at it. Personally I see it as if he dies internally, and sailing to the Undying Lands is a symbol of that. Like a "replacement" for death where you find peace and feel no more pain. It's sad, yeah, but that's just my point of view.

i didn't read the rest of the subject, so i'm modifying my post. well, like all the ringbearers the one ring consumed all of his energy (that's my point of view) and that's why he sail's to the undying lands.

Frodo does sort of die in the movie of RotK! He sails off to the Undying Lands, which is like "the other side" you know..

Sort of but it's not exactly the same thing. He goes there and lives in peace.

There are many opinions of that does Frodo die in the end... Some say, that he does. In the end of the book, there is that sentence where is that silver glass thing... can't remember really how it went, but it's the same thing that they put in the movie to ngandalf's mouth, when he tells Pippin about death...
Pippin: "I didn't think it would end this way..." Gandalf: "End?" Gandalf: "No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path...One that we all must take." Gandalf: "The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass... And then you see it." Pippin: "What? Gandalf? See what?" Gandalf: "White shores...and beyond. The far green country under a swift sunrise."
Though, that's just my opinion. I can't really tell that did he die or didn't he. But even when he went Into the West, he cannot live forever like the elves, can't he?

Pippin says then something like "then it's not so bad..."
I love this quote:) It's so full of consolation... But it makes me sad to think that Frodo dies:'(...he leaves the Shire that he loved and shared with his friends....but on the other hand, Tolkien found a very nice way to describe it all. Don't ye think? It'snt just death. end. It's something more! .....and Frodo deserved peace and happiness after his hard journey.... But I agree that's a sad point for us in a way. Because it's always sad when a favourite character dies.....but as I said. I think Tolkien handled it well...
