the ending is the thing that makes a book a good book. i would never ever change the ending of LOTR - it's perfect the way it is. i think that tolkien was sad when he wrote the ending, because you have to have a real friendship with the characters to write an ending like that.

I might alter it a tinsy bit but it's Tolkiens ending and it's beautiful and fair.

No, I won't change the ending but it's really sad... . I think that Tolkien wanted to show us that after all when you're fighting so much for something as Frodo for the Shire in the end you aren't the same and you couldn't pick up your old life.

It's not a perfect happy ending like most stories but it is fair to a limit at which it is believeable.

Me too. It makes you feel... okay. Instead, it's over, everyones happy. the series would not have been as popular if it had been a happy ending all together.

The ending is really sad and touching but it is realistic. So, I wouldn't want to change it. It is perfect.

Change the ending? No way! Even if there would be something that I wanted to be different, I wouldn't have heart to change it, even if i could. And I really love the ending, it's perfect. Tolkien did a brilliant job. <3

That's true. I wouldn't anything significantly changed, nothing that would change events really.

i would never change the ending! It is a pity that Frodo goed away and that sam's still there, but i would pick such an ending if i was tolkien, i think ;D

the ending was satisfying, I would never change it, maybe add to the appendix, but never change the ending
