What Eowyn has for Aragorn is lust. What Arwen has for Aragorn is love. See the difference? Of course ;D Eowyn doesn't truly love Aragorn. Arwen and Aragorn all the way!! ;D

Exactly. It just wasn't true love with A and E.

But you hav to ask yourself, did he only love Arwen for superficial reasons? I say that because the only reason he took any more notice of her than any other elf maiden was because of how pretty she was. But perhaps he grew to love her properly in the end. Exactly. I hated it, hated it. I wrote this on another forum, and I still stand by it Farimir is better for Eowyn. But is Arwen better for Aragorn?! Well, he seems to be happy also. Yes, Eowyn fell in love with him because she "desired to have the love of Lord Aragorn. Because he was high and puissant, and you wished to have renown and glory and be lifted far beyond the mean things that crawl on this earth. And as a great captain may to a young soldier he seemed to you admirable. For so he is, a Lord among men, the greatest that now is. But when he gave you only understanding and pity, then you desired to have nothing, unless a brave death in battle."So she didnt want Aragorn, but what Aragorn could become/was becoming/has become, his high status. But she seemed to me, to be wiser, to be a better woman that Arwen was. But maybe thats because we werent introduced to her. All she did was sit at home, waiting for her dad to let her marry this man. And it just seemed..I dont know, it annoyed me that this drive, what Aragorn is driving towards..defeating Sauron and claiming Kingship, most of his motivation towards it is so that Elrond will let him marry this girl who really does not..do anything, or seem to have any qualities apart from being beautiful. Unbelievably superficial.
The whole idea of love in this story is confusing, I feel. I think Tolkien believes in love at first sight, that kind of "connection", if you will, that comes from not even speaking to that person properly, only looking at them and somehow, straightaway knowing they are the "one". Well, I dont believe that, but Tolkien did, and he put it in the stories, so Im not questioning haha.

I always pondered this too but in the end I concluded that it’s more a fairy tale type story and her beauty symbolizes her goodness. I think that’s what Tolkien wanted to get across with Eowyn, Arwen, Luthien and others. Though in our world today it is considered superficial.

Arwen and Aagorn. They were the Third Age's Beren and Luthien.

Yes, but in Tolkiens world how beautiful one is represents how good they are as a person. Thought in todays world that's not true at all. That's just my theory.
Thought Arwen could have done something. So far as we know she didn't do anything really. Well she did watch over Aragorn from afar. I don't know if that counts.

Aragorn and Arwen, because they really loved each other from the beginning, it was like love at the first sight And I love their story. Aragorn and Eowyn... No, they weren't even in love with each other, not at all. Though Eowyn was, but then she fell in love with Faramir, and that really shows what kind of love hers and Aragorns was.

Yup moraniel! But even Eowyn was never in love with Aragorn. She only admired him and wanted to marry him because he was the hier of Gondor and she would be held above all the mean things that crawl upon the earth. And Aragorn obviously didn't love her in that way but he wanted her to be happy from the first moment he saw her and that's why he was glad when she married Faramir, her true love.

Gosh, this is a hard one. I personly think Éowyn and Aragorn a better match than Arwen and Aragorn. However, after reading all the other posts in this thread (Well, almost all other posts ) maybe Arwen and Aragorn is a true love. And Éowyn just had a crush on Aragorn. Besides, what Aragorn says in the movie: I don't think Aragorn could have give Éowyn what she was seeking. The love of Éowyn for Aragorn was bigger then the love of Aragorn for Éowyn. Maybe even a different kind of love.
