Aragorn and Arwen.. It's better for Aragorn but somehow I feel that Arwen shoudn't have gave up her imortality and should've left wit her father to the Undying Lands.. Like Elrond said "There will be no comfort to ease his passing" (or something like that).. It's really sad.. She will be all alone after his death..

Aragorn and Arwen. They were they ones who truly loved one another. She was willing to give up her immortality for him just for the few years they would get together instead of sailing into the west and having only memories and dreams of him. They belong together.

Well, it says that after he died she said goodbye to everyone, and left the city, and went to Lorien (which everyone had left) and she died in the Spring. I thought it would have been less years than that... I think Eowyn was too young for Aragorn... and she didn't have the understanding Arwen did of Aragron's heritage, and destiny. Of what motivated him, and where he was coming from. Also, if she had gone with Aragorn, Faramir doesn't have anyone. And I can't see Faramir/Arwen exactly working...

I think with Eowyn, she was too young and innocent to love Aragorn, she loved him for what he was, not who he was...
Arwen has had years and years of understand the way things worked, and she loved Aragorn truly and dreeply...

I wasnt Aragorn like 45 or 50 when the books started? And Eowyn was like 20 or somethin in the others?

Exactly, Herenya, Eowyn didn't have the knowledge or understanding. I'm positive she did things like respect other races, but...hmm, what am I trying to say?

When I read the books for the first time I really wanted Aragorn to go with Eowyn. I think Eowyn would have made a much better queen of Gondor than Arwen who, I felt, was just a waste of space to b quite honest. But I really liked it when Eowyn got together with Faramir and I realised then that Eowyn didn't really love Aragorn, but she only desired to be queen (she says so herself to Faramir). I guess you could say what she felt for Aragorn was more infatuation than love, she loved him more in a platonic way, and he requited that. But you hav to ask yourself, did he only love Arwen for superficial reasons? I say that because the only reason he took any more notice of her than any other elf maiden was because of how pretty she was. But perhaps he grew to love her properly in the end. And even though Arwen was useless during the War of the Ring, I do think she was very brave for forsaking her immortality for him. And also, after Elessar died Arwen went to Lothlorien and died on Cerin Amroth a few months afterwards (I can't remember exactly how long , which also causes confusion with Elrond in the film saying she would live on for years, because she wouldn't but that's another story lol.)

Eowyn only loved him for what he was, not who he is. She wanted to be helf above all the nasty things that crawl on the earth (like wormtounge) And she only loved him because he could do that for her. When she meets Faramir she understands that she did not ruly love him and she finds she loves Faramir and so everyone is happy and belongs with someone they are compatable with and love.

well... i would spoil the book, but... i think that aragorn and eowyn are the better couple - aragorn is a mortal man and arwen is an elven woman and they cause to many problems with their love... but aragorn and arwen are the example to the true meaning of the phrase "immortal love"...

Aragorn and Arwen love is bitter sweet if you will. And Eowyn actually truly loves Faramir while she only saw Aragorns rank.

Arwen Evenstar, with that attitude we might as well say that Luthien and Beren shouldn't have gotten together 'cuz "they cause too many problems."
I agree with Lady Orohisiel. Eowyn loved Aragorn's status, and she loved what she could become if she was Aragorn's wife.
Faramir and Eowyn have so much in common that they are perfect for each other. I love that their relationship sprung from sadness and pain.
As for Arwen and Aragorn... I guess you have to believe in "love at first sight," because that's what I think it was. There is no in-depth explanation, they just loved each other from the start.

Yeah, I'm not really a big believer on love at first sight, but since it's a fairy tale type story, I'll go with it on this one.
