I have brought up this subject before, but this time I am really scared. It's been 2 months since I last visited the forum, even the A-U, actually I haven't been on any LOTR sites for 2 months either. LOTR is slowly slipping away, I know I will never forget it, but I can't keep my LOTR shrine on my shelf forever, I am losing interest in this, and getting excited over other things. What's happening???

No! don't let it happen! sometimes I feel like i'm losing intrest in LotR too, but I don't let it happen. I find something that has to do with LotR and do it (like for awhile I made LotR jewelry, now i'm painted LotR stuff). Read the books again, watch the movies some more. Don't let it go!!!

Oh yes, its only natural to move on. of course you'll always hold a special place in your heart for LOTR but its not like you'll always only like this certain thing, not saying you ONLY like LOTR but things change, you loose interest, but you still like them. hmm kind of hard to understand, but really its not a bad thing.

Yeah, I think I agree with Nienna. If you feel like it is time to move on, don't try to stop yourself. LOTR will always have a special place in your heart, not matter what. You KNOW that.
Don't worry, whatever you do! If you really feel a need to revive your interest, why don't you read a Middle Earth-related book you haven't read before. There are a lot of books on LOTR, and have you read the sil and unfinished tales?

yeah, i agree w/ what everybody's said. i do this too...every once in a while i'll lose 'interest' in something, but i'll always come back to it. just because you lost interest in something doesn't mean you'll never come back and enjoy it again. listen to the soundtrack, that always gets me in a lotr-ish mood!

I think it's all the stuff about the movie that's the things that we loose the interest over... We get tired of watching the movies and buying LotR movie effects. But it's harder to loose interest in the books and the actual world of Middle-earth... Maybe it's because it's all in our imagination and there we can picture whatever we like without having a movie or something to relate to.

It's happening to me also, I haven't watched the movies in about half a year. But I love this forum and still like LotR.
Maybe I should red and watch the movies again.

It's happening to me too...I try not to...But I haven't watched LotR in a while...and I can't find my LotR books and all my CD's are scratched. It seems like A-U's my only lifeline and that's slowly slipping away too.

Yeah, exactly! Thats why I am determined not to move away from here. The idea sort of scares me about this site. I mean you had all the people such as Tulk and Frodo Baggins who used to come all the time. And they slowly started moving away and had their shoes refilled by some other member. Lets just say thats me and someone else. And me and that someon else are moving slowly away, only to have our shoes refilling, as more fans are born. It just makes me real sad to think of it that way

I couldn't have said it better myself. If you hold on, you'll only make yourself miserable! I believe that it's impossible to lose something you've loved completely. It'll always be there!

Yeah, it's like what Nienna wrote. It's only natural to move on. But you'll never hate it completely. You may not be as obsessed, but you'll never hate it all out. And at least you know it'll be "refreshed" if that a good word, when the Hobbit comes out. But don't make yourself miserable trying to do LotR things when you'd rather be doing other things.

I'm starting to feel the same way I still post on this forum and I like LotR but I'm slowly losing interest. It's a horrible feeling but I can't help it! I haven't read the books or watched the movies in a while. I think I'm gonna take a break from it because I'm even starting to lose interest in posting on this forum. I'm gonna blame it on PJ for taking so long to make The Hobbit

Nah, I think everyone will live.. I made this account last year around this time and then I coulden´t care less and I left it for like 5 monts before I started to use it and now...I have my own bannershop and is on her everyday... There is always room for LorT...but no ones has said it was all the time...there was to come new things across and take your interest for a whilw, but you will never forget why you loved a thing, so when you think it´s a long time since last you read one of the book, watched one of the movies or got an opdate on one of the characters...then the interest is there again..
