For me I hate Celegorm. I hate his evil motives and intentions. How he and Curufin drove Finrod away, how he forced Luthien to wed him and he started the second kin slaying(ruin of Doriath)

Yeah Celegorm's not nice. But I don't really have a liking for Feanor It might just be me but I found him a bit big headed, if you get what I mean. I'm not a big lover of Thingol either, I know he was only trying to sae his daughter but I don't like the way he acted with Beren, like sending him to almost certain death.

Hmm least favorite elf...i'm going to get shunned for this but i couldn't stand Feanor....psycho. Least favourite man however would have to be Ar-PharazĂ´n who was just quite simply rather annoying.

I don't care for Feanor either. And most of his sons I don't like. I like Maedhros though because he did actually try to fix things to some extend between himself and Fingolfin and the sons of Finarfin.

I hate to restate what everyone else is saying, but I too, have never held a liking for Feanor. He just has never sat well with me. He has an oversized ego and set about the oath amoungst his sons that was useless, yet also binding until death. I just don't like him.

He didn't know what he was doing then, though. Turin did some incredibly stupid things -- like helping along the fall of Nargothrond, and listening to Glaurung instead of looking for Finduilas -- but still, he deserved better than he got.
As for Feanor, sure he's an arrogant jerk, but there's something fascinating about him.

Yeah I know he "didn't know" that's what my sister says when she sticks up for him--but I just didn't like him(my opinion and when it gets stuck-there's hardly anything that'll change it -and also 'cuz I really really liked Beleg and so it made it worse 'cuz I hadn't liked Turin at the beginning-if he hadn't of killed him-I probably would have liked him better by the end-but there is just that marr on his charcter I don't forget it-LOL : Don't mind me-I'm a nut- ;D

It seems not many of you like Feanor, He along with his sons are my favourite Elves, Yes, Feanor did do many bad things but wouldn't you get a bit angry if something you put your whole soul into was taken from you, and the two people you loved the most were dead ?(his father killed for no good reason) The oath drove his sons to madness (that's my excuse for Celegorm!) The one I hate most is not really a man or Elf I suppose, but I hope it counts in your poll .I hate Morgorth the Ainur, who started the problems in the first place!

Exactly -- remember Feanor's reaction his his father's death:
"For his father was dearer to him than the light of Valinor or the peerless works of his hands; and who among sons, of Elves or Men, have held their fathers of greater worth?"
How many people would Feanor say that about? And this is what finally sent him over the edge . . .
I figure all the Feanorians must have had some potential once; the sad thing is that they wasted it. After all, Celegorm was given a Hound of Orome in Valinor -- he couldn't have been totally corrupt back then, could he?

I do think that some of Feanor's actions and his son's actions were justified because of what happened. But they brought on what happened themselves. Morgoth planted the seed of discord in Finwe's house among the Noldor. But the elves of that house are the ones that spread it, cultivated it and made what Morgoth said come true. I still don't like Feanor. lol. But oddly, I like Morgoth. Pure evil, why not?

I can't say I hate Feanor, I just didn't really like him. He did a lot of stupid things. I'll admit, though, that he had a hard life.
Least favorite man.. let's see... oh, dear. My vote goes to Ar-Pharazon. Growl.
Lady Orohisiel, I HATED Mim! Especially when he killed Thingol..
Of course, Thingol was a bit hard on Beren. [/glow]

Least favorite, Melkor, obviously. And Sauron is right down there with him. They were the kings of evil! Ew! Least favorite elf, well I haven't read the whole book yet.... but so far I don't like Luthien's Dad. I mean if he really didn't want beren marrying his daughter he oculd've jut said "no" and then had him taken out of their lands(though I don't really think he was being too nice to say "no" in the first place) but NOOO, he wanted him dead for even having the nerve to ask, and then for kind of back talking or stumping him (whatever)....J-E-R-K! though I think he finally relented. But in the begining he was jerk. I suppose I wouldn't like Feanor either, if he's arogant. Can't really say anything about any humans yet....
