Well, I was just wondering, in the movie, Legolas and Frodo don't really communicate, is that the same in the book? I have one chapter until I've finshed it, but I haven't taken notice if they do communicate or not. If not, why did Tolkien do that?

Nope, in the book Lego and Frodo don't comunicate either. Lego is just not the comunication-kinda-guy. And you must realize that Tolkien wrote the story, but didn't describe every second of their day. So if it would have happened in real life, af course they would have talked to each other. It's not that there is a specific reason for tehm not talking.
But in a story it would be rather stupid if it would say after every described day: "and today Lego and Frodo talked to each other for 20 min, Sam to Aragorn for 35, Faramir to his guards for 76, Elrond via telephatic phone to Galadriel for 1 min 35 sec" etc.

Legolas doesn't say much does he? ;D Hee hee, he's the quiet type I feel kind of sorry for him in the films as all he says is Captain Obvious stuff such as "A diversion!" Maybe it's to make Lord of the Rings easy to follow for stupid people

Tolkien stated that Legolas was the least important character in the fellowship. Think about it what does he do? he shoots down the fell beast and that’s about it. He doesn’t really talk to anyone much,or at least not directly.
Kinda like me in real life.

True, he doesn't have a big role. But why does everyone love him so much? Because Orlando/Legolas are both hott, and Legolas is a pro at killing orcs, and well..mostly the reasons people like people is because they are extremely hot..thats why there are so many Orli Fan girls lol
