Allow me to introduce my role-play character! Her story is from my fanfic, "The Sequel to the Legolas Story that Lacks A Proper Name," where she appears as the main character's uh, long lost sister. It's not corny I swear!
Idril Falastri is a daughter of the Elves, descended from Olw of old, who was the lord of Alqualond - Haven of the Swans in the Blessed Realm, and Ingw, Vanyarin High King of all the Elves. Through twists and turns, her ancestors came across the Sea, and intermarried in the Elven races. As a result she is part Vanyar, Teleri, and Noldor.
She dark hair stranded with glimmering silver, a trait she inherited from Telpfin, Olw's son. (Yes, it took me a long time planning this out. Imaginary genealogy...) Her eyes are blue, like many Elves, or were, until a certain stage in her life which shall be described in the next couple of paragraphs.
Idril was brought to Lrien a motherless babe. The Lady Galadriel took pity on her, and raised her like a chlid of her own. Her sister is Holi, who, as told in the story, was taken to Mirkwood when their parents perished under the Orc blade. She lived in peace and safety, though troubled by depression brought on by the rising of Sauron's power. The arrival of a Mirkwood Elf named Holiwyn, (the friend that my shameless Lego-fic was written for ) on errand from the Elvenking, began to make her think for the first time... she had grown up, and no longer addressed the Lady by the title of "mother," but did she really have the right to in the first place? She was nothing like the Elves of Lothlrien. Holi befriended her, then left to search for someone she loved very much.
Galadriel counseled her to leave Lothlórien, to learn strength of heart, and not waste away in the shadow of Dol Guldur. She did. She left Lórien, and found Holi, who immediately upon meeting her, announced that they shared the same mother and father. I'm trying not to drag this on forever, so I'll wrap it up by saying Holi helped her learn to face the world. A little passage about the subject:
'Holi was true to her word when she told Idril that she had much to learn. Over the months that followed, Idril grew from a shy dreamer to a force to be reckoned with. Her eyes lost the blue of her Lórien days and were replaced with a fiery green. Though she was no battle-hardened warrior, having to hunt and learning to defend herself ebbed the fear away. During this time, the sisters realized how alike they really were.'
When the reign of Sauron "was ended for ever," Idril and Holi joined the procession of Elves to attend the King's coronation. I'm not entirely sure where it'll go from there, but I think I shall join a fourth-age RPG!
