How was Faramir's character changed? In the book when Faramir finds out that Frodo has the ring, he doesn't try to take Frodo to Minas Tirith to show his father what he can do. He helps Frodo out right away. So put simply, in the movie they make so that he goes from "bad" to "good". But in the book he's "good" all the way through.

I guess they were just trying to show how the ring can affect anyone... even the noblest of men, such as Faramir.
