I often like listening to the soundtrack when it's all dark around me....only then it feels like the music expands to something wide...and it is filling me up inside.... Of course I always like it...but only in these silent moments I can fully enjoy it.... What about you? In what situations do you like listening to LotR music?

I just listen to it all the time. No mood required... I am always in a magical and enchanted state of mind lol.
I am such a huge movie score fan (a fan of tons of different composers) and listen to them all every day. I own about 30 soundtrack CDs from various movies (mostly score CDs), and have about 220 score tracks on my mp3 player.

I often listen to the music when I'm on my way to school . It's all dark around me and I look outside the trainwindow and see the rain pouring down... then I can hear the happy sound of hobbiton and the rain just seem to disappear and in my mind I'm travellin' through Hobbiton on a warm summer day... And I like to listen to it in the evening, when thers a beautiful sundown and the first stars appear to light the night... wow... that sounds really emotional.. But it's really like that. (Well I'm listening to the Fellowship right now.. though)

I have to say I must be in a certain mood to listen to LotR. If I'm too hyper then I want to listen to hyper music! I usually listen when I'm in a very quiet mood, reading fantasy, or when I'm on the bus. I have to hide my smile when I hear things like the Hobbiton music or the Rohan theme!
Also, I listen when I'm sort of down, and just want to escape into another world. When I listen to my LotR soundtracks, I'm just completely out of it.

That's very interesting!! It's cool that you share it! I also like, additionally to the time when it's dark to listen to it when I'm outside somewhere in the woods or the garden because the Hobbit themes feel so authentique in these moments...A few days ago I sat outside in the evening, reading and listened to FotR music....and it was so great because I saw the hill and a few trees and it did fit perfectly:P ;D I so wished to be in the Shire in this moment.....

That's a really interesting question. Lately I don't listen to the soundtrack so often as I was used to because now I don't have many time... but now I'm listening to it for example when I'm very sad for something or when I want to come back to Middle-Earth and that's not in front of the computer... in these kind of moments I just play the soundtrack or watch a trailer and I'm feeling better...

I'm sort of a newbe and I don't own the soundtracks yet, but I really want to. Hearing LOTR music always makes me happy. I feel then like I'm a part of Middle Earth and I'm going back to it soon. It's a bit strange, but it is so.

I like the Shire songs, like 'Concerning Hobbits' from FOTR, it just reminds me of little Shire hills and little creeks I liked it so much I've actually worked some of the main bits from it on piano, but mostly from 'Council Of Elrond'....so relaxing...

I like to listen to it when I'm doing homework. My house gets kind of noisy, so I need something to drown it out, but music with lyrics just distracts me. I also like it for long car rides or bus trips.

Mostly I listen the soundtracks to relax or something. Like before I go to sleep.
Or just whenever I'm in the mood. Which is mostly when I've just watched Lotr. ^_^

I listen to it when I am reading the books... I find it increases my LOTR mood alot of the elvish songs I like to listen to at night, when it's dark- so I can imagine the elves actually singing them... it makes the effect more complete.
