Depending on how good or as the case may be bad the Xmas television is over the weekend. I'm planning on doing a EE marathon too. ;D
My calculations might be a bit off, but I think it'll be about 11-11 1/2 hours all in all. I'm sure someone will be able to give an accurate time for it though.

Lucky you! I'd love to do a lord of the rings marathon BUT we don't have a TV and if we did, my parents would not let me comandeer it for that long. Have fun!

I'd like to get one in sometime over Christmas but I don't know if I'll have twelve hours at once to spare. It's easier to do at normal weekends.

Haven't had extended LotR marathon yet... Me and my friend talked about doing it soon though, but we're kinda... having a fight now, so I guess not. Well, when I went to marathon in the theater -- the regular versions of course, it was from 4PM and we were done at... 3:30 AM. But that was with breaks and all. Ah well, I'm rambling again *backs off* Can't wait to do a LotR EE marathon though:P

well i think that if we start at 8am, add two 1hr breaks inbetween each film ;D that we should be finished by 10pm! i mean we're going to eat during the film and use the breaks to let everything sink in and prepare the food ;D oh and generally get on with life
good luck all who are also attempting a marathon i know we must succeed ;D

[glow=purple,2,300] My boyfriend and I had one last weekend. I was given the EE Trillogy set so we had a huge viewing party... Loads of popcorn were consumed, it was great fun.
Although I was a little disapointed in the Mouth of Sauron scenes... I was expecting him to be more menacing (like Gandalf's black speach during the EE council of Elrond) and instead he had this whiney little voice... and he smiled too much (made it a big cheezy instead of creepy)... when he smile it was gross and yucky but it just wasn't threatening or frightening to me... and I was a little let down by that. Hmm, Didn't get a chance to do the EE marathon over the Xmas weekend. But I definetly intend to do it either on Hogmanay or New Years day..whichever day we have the most free.
I have only watched the EE once (Not including cast and Director commentaries), but I really liked the Mouth of Sauron scene. His big wide mouthed grin was just so arrogant and bizarre. But then I am a fan of Bruce Spence. So I guess I just find him faultless.

my friend was going to do that over the summer but she didn't find the time. she wanted to watch not only the regular dvds but the ee and all the cast commentaries, too. i don't think i'd have the patience to watch all of that and sit for that long of a period of time. i'd need to be doing something but then i'd get distracted from the movie so i've never done a marathon before. ;D

i completed the ee marathon on the 29th! it was Very tiring. when i woke up the next day i felt like i had hardly slept! not for anyone with school or work the next day ;D
very good tho. i actually liked the mouth of sauron bits. and i think they had added really good bits into the ee which made the film more acurate to the book.
i enjoyed the whole thing. now all i have to do is a commentary ee marathon over four days - to cover each comentary of course ;D

At this moment I am so proud of myself ;D. Everyone said I wouldn't be able to do it but I did! It took 11 hours, starting at 12 noon and finishing at 11 at night. The only breaks I took were in between discs to go to the toilet, and I did it. God I was knackered afterwards, it's amazing how sitting on a couch not moving can be so tiring lol. My dad missed about the first half an hour of RotK coz he went the chippy but he saw the rest. Now he says he never wants to see it again but I'm sure he doesn't mean that...I hope ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) . I'd like to say a big congratulations to everyone who managed it ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
