I think it's okay if they put all these characters in very short scenes where they don't talk. Just as a little hint or something;)
But I would definitively NOT like it if they would change the whole story just that everybody is pleased with the cast.....then Tolkien stories would become just a merchandise product and nothing more....like a soap. PJ should not try to please the actor's fans.....I think he'd have sort of a mission. Filming the Hobbit as closely as possibly to the book. It's Tolkien's story finally....!
Very tiny changes would not bother. But I just think it should stay authentique. And PJ surely finds other great actors ye can swoon for The Hobbit;)

If they did put Aragorn in it I think they should have him as the wee boy Aragorn or rather Estel. I wouldn't want to see Viggo in it (well I would but not from the making a good film point of view )

Yes they weren't in the book but JRR came up with Legolas and Aragorn after the Hobbit so they weren't metioned because of that. And they would only have small non verbal younger scenes even if they did.

i reckon it would ok if aragorn(as a boy)and legolas did short cameos but not change the movie so that a huge chunk of it focused around them.

Well, if their going to make the Hobbit...then they need to bring back Haldir!!! ;D ~dances little jig of happiness!!!~ thats true Cireviel - although wouldnt he be in Lorien?! i think it would be good to have Estel in Rivendell, not a big part or anything and i think it would be good to have Legolas in Mirkwood - after all - it is his home... xTx
