And another thing...ok listen. LotR is going to be gone in one year. What i mean by gone is...no one will like it anymore. Everything will be done in one year. All the obsessions....all the websites. But harry Potter is going to live on for this year and next year and many more years to come. You say you will still like LotR in one year. That is because of your obsession now. But in one year will you really still be obsessed with it or will you be over it? You will be over it. Better get used to hearing Harry Potter because it is stickign around for years to come.

HP is OK I like the movies better than the books LOTR SO TOTALLY ROX DUDE! One of the main reasons why I don't like HP is: I don't like reading books about 11 year old kids going and saving the world. They are so young! (that's why I like the later books better than the first ones) And another is because JK killed Sirius Black. He was my favorite, then he had to make a silly mistake and die! But they do have a lot in common. But then again, no idea was ever original. (Except for LOTR ) i thought you said in your first post you hated harry potter?

I dont think LOTR is gonna be gone in one year, at least not for the real fans, but in the news, HP will go on much longer, yes

First of all, Harry hasnt beat Voldemort yet. Second of all, I wouldnt call all that Harry has been through "stupid nonsense." (Especially in Order of the Phoenix) Harry has just as much depth as any LotR character, and has been through SO much. He was verbally (and sometimes physically) abused for the first 11 years of his life, he has no parents, or living relatives that give a crap about him, and now the closest thing he ever had to a parent (besides maybe Mr and Mrs Weasley) died right before his eyes! He has had an incredibly lonely life, but still overcomes. It annoys me so much how people assume that just because it is marketed as a "children's book" that the characters have no depth or anything.

Its not stupid nonsense for your info Legendel. Yo uare entitled to your own opinion but i must object. First of all, put it in my perspective. My favorite series is HP. Yours is LotR. So what if i just started bashing LotR? Oh im a little Frodo and i have to go throw a ring into a mountain so the whole middle earth can be happy. Can;t you just appreciate both fantasy novels? JK Rowling is not a theif. There is no proof. Just beliefs. So untill you hear some hard core evidence coming out of her mouth, just like her books.

People...don't make me delete this whole thread. Keep it civil, don't bash posters, don't bash books. I'm just glad I took off my HP/LotR comparison...
Krissy, "Wormtongue" was not Grima's real name--it was a nickname given to him by the people of Rohan, and he was called that by everyone except Theoden.
Why the heck would LotR fade out? It's been going strong for ***50*** years. Yes, the Orlando Bloom fans who don't give a darn about the whole story will move onto things like Troy, but if you're really a fan, then the object of your fanaticism will never die unless you let it.
J.K. Rowling--good author, but I think (just as many other fantasy authors did!!!) that she borrowed ideas from other books and drew from the same mythology sources that others did.
I'm not going to get into anything else because this is a touchy topic, but TRY not to compare the books/movies--some like one, some like the other, and the last time I tried to join in an argument like this the result was...erm...freaky.

Addendum to last post: all the LotR websites will be gone? Oh really. I'm planning on keeping mine up, FYI.

Sorry, a couple more things: Krissy: the reason why the guests posted a minute apart is because they were all ME. I was transferring posts from the old forum to the new forum, so of COURSE they're a minute apart. I really have to say too that if you feel like bashing LotR, don't start and then get mad when people are irritated at you. It's like putting a sign that says "Kick me" on your back and then getting furious when people kick you. There are many HP forums, and if you want to praise HP that much, you'd enjoy it there. I think www.potterschool.com is one *~Arwen~*

So if she is going to bash my favorite books, then i can bash her favorite books. And i had to post my oinion on Harry Potter since i can because its not illegal, seeing as other people were posting their opinions.
