I don't know about all of you, but one of my favorite scenes in The Two Towers is when Faramir is talking to and questioning Frodo and Sam. I'll let Tolkien do the talking for me:
"Not meaning any harm to Boromir--and it's my opinion that in Lorien he first saw clearly what I guessed sooner: what he wanted. From the moment he first saw it, he wanted the Enemy's Ring!"
"Sam!" cried Frodo aghast. He had fallen deep into his own thoughts for a while, and came out of them suddenly and too late.
"Save me!" said Sam turning white, and then flushing scarlet. "There I go again! Whenever you open your big mouth you put your foot in it the Gaffer used to say to me, and right enough. O dear, o dear!"
LOL! i always thought that was one of the most funny, stupid, and wonderful things Sam has ever said. it may have been folly, but it was still very sweet to see this poor simple hobbit reprimanding himself in such a humorous way. love it, love it.
what would be fun is to try to capture this in a drawing. i'm picturing Sam with an aghast look on his face and Frodo with his face in his hands...lol!

Yes, that part is so hilarious, when Sam says something that he knows he shouldn't, he makes it so funny when he tells himself off for his own foolishness ;D He is such a sweet hobbit

I think it definitely adds. There is also a lesson; don't take yourself too seriously. I admire Tolkien for being able to create characters that you can relate to. Sam is one of my role models.

He reminds me of Dobby the Houseelf, from harry Potter, you know - saying something he shouldn't have done then having to punich himself!

Sam is definently one of the most intersting hobbits. He has so much character. By the way Tolkien writes his dialog you can almost hear his voice!

Yeah, I suppose too, that Sam is a "wee, lovable character". Brave and loyal and faithful too.

He reminds me of Dobby the Houseelf, from harry Potter, you know - saying something he shouldn't have done then having to punich himself! Yes, but he doesnt go to quite that extent of self harm! Hes adorable.

Oh, Sam is so cute! He's so loyal and good and sensitive... Absolutely one of my favorites! I like his dialog with Gollum about potatos in the movies too.
