I saw one in Barnes and Nobles just a few weeks ago...It was sooo tempting to splurge, but it wasn't in my budget...but Christmas is only a few months away

They do look great. I want to get the Encyclopedia of Tolkien too. That looks amazing.

Do you have them? I could have bought the encyclopedia last week but then I never had time to go back to the shop, and now I am 6,000 miles away from there! (I was on holiday )

Well it's this HUGE encyclopedia ( from Britain, I believe ) it was made before the movies..In the 70's I think. It mentions ever thing from Hobbits to Dol Guldor. And with pictures, drawn by artists to accompany the little sections.

I read a book, called "Characters from Tolkien" which had all that in, but I didnt like the drawings. They were too twisty and jagged..I didnt like them at all.
I havent seen the illustrations in the encyclopedia, but if they are anything like the Alan Leee illustrations then they will be great.

I had been saving to get the one volume Alan Lee book...but I wasn't getting anywhere. Then, for my 'graduation' from Junior High, my parents gave it to me! I was shocked, I couldn't ask for better parents, ever, but we don't usually buy things that expensive on the spur of the moment! It was very sweet of them, and I love the book.

Cool. That's always a question in my mind, were I to buy it. Would it be worth it?
The answer is obviously yes.
