I need birth and death dates for Eldacar, one of the kings of ancient Gondor. I really appreciate any help with this, since I'm trying to figure out a few things for a fanfiction story.
Thanks!

Eldacar, son of Valacar, died in 1490 TA. I got this in Appendix A of LotR, part (ii). According to Appendix B, the Tale of Years, Valacar died in 1432 TA, so Eldacar probably became king in that year as well. In 1437 Eldacar fled to Rhovanion after the burning of Osgiliath. In 1447 Eldacar returned and drove out Castamir the Usurper.
I don't think his birth date is listed in LotR, though.
Good luck with your fanfiction!

Thanks, both of you! I had a chance to do a little rereading. Looks like Eldacar lived to 250, so he was born in 1240. But Valacar first went to Rhovanion in 1250. One can't be born before one's parents met. ;D I'll have to tweak the timeline to 1250 then, or a few years later, and assume that Eldacar was actually 240-ish and the Middle-earth historians (/Tolkien) just lost track of things. Well, Tolkien's inconsistency is nothing new, and I'll work around it somehow.
