Since people are talking about having Legolas in the Hobbit. Why not have Aragorn too?
I think according to the timeline he should be about 10 (though my maths are dodgy) so why not have the party meet a wee boy Aragorn when they come to Rivendell?
Who thinks that would be a good idea?

I don't. I think it would be a little stupid. It would be like Star Wars. Ya know meeting al the characters wen they were younger.

But he would have actually been at Rivendell when they all visited.
Hmm... well it depends how they'd do it. And I agree with you about Star Wars

Hey, I am soooo for it. I've already said as much on another forum. A little Estel would be adorable, and you've got your time-frame right, Elanor. Who says he wasn't there? Just like Legolas, I think they both deserve an appearance, and when TOlkien wrote the Hobbit he hadn't invented them yet, so if he'd had them invented they probably would have been in there.

I think that would be great! I'd love to see a minature version of Aragorn he'd look so cute! And about the whole going by the book thing they can change it a wee bit don't you think? I mean they did it with the LotR and nobody was complaining to much they'd get over it.....hopefully...... ;D

I think that it's an idea. I wouldn't do it, but it would be interesting to see a little Aragorn.

Ach, no. I'd rather them stick to the book. But look what happened to Eothain! They turned him into a little boy! Gah!!!!!

i don't think it would hurt.
i think it would be quite clever but only in a tiny wee part, basically 1 line or something. so that the audience would be like... 'was that just Aragorn we seen there?'

It could work. I am normally one to be all "stick as close to the book as possible", but with The Hobbit I think that may be a little difficult, considering. They could have an Aragorn/Estel, and then they'd have to have Gilraen. And if they have Gilraen, then they'd have to have another female character, because after all, there are no female characters in The Hobbit, at least from what I can remember. The darn feminists would have a field day! I say if they can get a kid who looks most like Viggo as a ten-year-old, then go for it.

PJ already skewed the timeline Rather than having so many years go by between Bilbo's 111th birthday and the events of Frodo's quest, he's had it all happen around the same year But...this leaves it 60 years after The Hobbit. And Aragorn is still 87. Which means... 87-60= ? You've got it. Following PJ's timeline, at the time of The Hobbit, Aragorn would be a hot 27 years old Unless I've gone crazy, that is

if aragorn was twenty seven (according to the pj timeline), than he wouldn't be around. he would be out with the other rangers or helping gandalf or something. and if they put legolas in it (which i hope they don't) it would probably only be for a short while. they're only in mirkwood for about 4 chapters, and during that time they were mostly bumbling around in the dark, getting attacked by spiders, and floating down a river in barrels. not much time for legolas if you ask me.
