Should there be a Silmarillion movie? And who should direct and star in it?

I honestly don't think they could do it justice. if there was to be anythin on the silver screen to do with the silmarillion it would have to b one of the stories, perhaps Túrin Turambar, Beren & Luthien, the Nirnaeth, the theft of the silmarils and the curse of the Noldor, or perhaps the voyage of Erendil and the War of Wrath. To do a full book version it would have to b about 6 movies long... maybe even more. not sure any company would risk that. Actors/Directors... hmmm, something i have given some thought to in the past. Director could only be PJ. Actors: Túrin: Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana, Stuart Townsend. Beren: Ethan Hawke, Brad Pitt, Sean Bean. Feanor: Hayden Christiansen, Josh Hartnett Meadhros: the guy who plays Cyclops in X-Men. Luthien: Keira Knightley, Elisha Cuthbert... I think also that a few unknown actors would b a good idea aswell. any other suggestions?

i would love for a simarillion movie to be made...however, i realize that it'd be really difficult....maybe if you just took the high parts....but then again, that wouldn't be "the" simarillion that we know and love!! it might be too risky.

The Silmarillion is a good story, and why don't do it to a movie?

I really don't think it would be posible to make the Silmarillion. I agree, it would be wonderful if they could, but i really don't see how they could. I mean the Sil is a lot of storys, but something like.. Beren and Luthien mgiht be... you know..

I honestly hope they won't make the Silmarillion film. Far too many things to go wrong. Too many characters will go flat or bland by an actor's portrayal. It's one of those books that no director should touch with a ten foot pole.
Besides, how can you make the most beautiful child in the world?

I think it would be too complex, too expensive, and to much of a risk to the dedicated fans of the book to make The Silmarillion movie

^ Yea, I agree! *talks like Gollum* "It’s too risky, it’s too risky."

Ok, so it'd be hard, but perhaps just a couple of the stories? Pretty please? And Turin, I so majorly agree with you about the Cyclops guy playing Maehdros! THat elf is one of my favorite characters in Sil. I think he would be awesome. I always thought of Meahdros as having red hair. Anyone agree with me?

It would be a wonderful movie, but it might not draw as many in as the Lord of the Rings did. The director would have to be Peter Jackson, as he is a brilliant director. As for cast... Mostly unknowns, but the man who played Faramir (cannot recall his name) would be wonderful as Feanor, methinks.

yeah, David Wenham might be good. On another thread someone suggested Brad Pitt as Feanor. It's a scary thought, but he might be good.
