Does any one else think that Eowyn's character in The Two Towers was potrayed too girly? in the book she 'falls' for Aragorn then decides to die not just cause she cant get the hero, but so she's doing something worthwhile for her country. in the movie it just seams as though she's being a spoilt little girl who's going to war because she got regected, and because of the fact shes not aloud too. Eowyn is my favourite charater and i really have nothing against Miranda Otto or Peter Jackson, but i do believe thay could have made her more rough-and-tumble, more fiesty. Does anyone else agree with me? Lady Eonev

I agree with the above but other wise she was pretty good. It did kind of seem like that. That's probably why she didn't appeal to me as much as she would have unlike Galadriel.

Hmm...no, I didn't really find that. In TTT there's not a huge chance for her to show her, well, tom-boyish-ness. After all, she's going through a lot of stress, obviously. I think there are lines in TTT that show her character: "Leave me alone, snake!" "I fear neither death nor pain." "I can fight!" "You do not command the others to stay! They fight beside you because they would not be parted from you! Because they love you!"

I found her sort of girly in the movie too Especially in the fight with the Witch-king. I was really looking forward to that part, but all she did was jump back and didn't do much fighting

I didn't think that she was spoiled. I think that she went to war because her life was so restricted and boring, that she wanted to do something for her people, and to show that girls can kick butt. I don't know, that is just my opinion ;D

You all are right. She was not girly. And after all she is a girl so she isn't going to act like a guy!

You know - I always seemed to think of Eowyn as wearing her emotions on her sleeve, as the saying goes. She would love Aragorn, but then she'd be all physically tough and fight the witch-king. Maybe she was emotionally weak, but physically eager for battle

Her 'love' for aragorn is not actual love though. she loves him for what he is, not who he is. he is going to be a king, and if her chooses her for his queen, she will be above all that she despises, well thats what she thinks. She is a physically strong women, yes, but i just don't think putting Miranda Otto into all those beautiful dresses really brings that out. i mean, it shows how beautiful Eowyn is, but it does not justice to her sword fighting abilities. I think they needed more fighting, or something like that...

Well, there's not really a chance for her to show off sword-fighting skills, unless you take away even more from the book. And lovely dresses--it's not like she's dressed in powder pink or anything. She's the king's niece! Of course she's in nice clothes! She talks about how it's as if she's in a cage--maybe she's actually forced to wear dresses like that, to be more like a lady than she would like to be.

She's a gril! she does wear dresses in the book as well. Just because she dresses like a girl doesn't symbolize her not being able to fight. and she's of the royal family so it's kind of expected.

Please don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that she shouold've worn a potatoe sack. i'm just saying that she could've be shown as more strong. I personally think they could have shown her with a bit more "Death For My Freedom" and stuff like that.
