Was the Silmarillion the favorite Tolkien book of anyone? It sure was for me! To me, Lord of the Rings is a good story, but I more like the idea of actually living there; experiencing everyday, usual, middle-earth. Not just middle-earth, all of it. Reading the Silmarillion gives you more of an idea of what that would be like, and what why it is what it is.

My favourite book (ever not only Tolkien's) is the Silmarillion because I love elves and I was always curious about the history of Middle-Earth. The tales that are in the Silmarillion are so beautiful and interesting, I'm really enjoying reading this book again and again and every time I find out something that I hadn't known...

The Silmarillion is my favorite book as well. It's so amazing to read about how the elves and men and dwarves first came. I also love the chapters in the beginning about the Vala and the Maia. It's the probably the most interesting book I've ever read. ;D

The Silmarillion is my favourite because it goes so in depth to the history of Middle-earth, and explained to me so much of the history of the Elves. Hard to read sometimes, though, as it's quite old fashioned.
