Gil-Galad. He was the Star of Radiance, man! He was, like, the only person, along with Galadriel, who realized that Annatar was evil.
Plus, I kinda have a grudge against Glorfindel. So what, he killed a balrog. I still refuse to believe that he is the same Glorfindel in FoTR. I mean, if the Valar resurrect him, why not Gil-Galad? Why not Finwe? Etc.

Gil-galad is cooler, for the same reasons.
Glorfindel was cool too but we can't be certain if it was ithe same one. After elves die their spirits got to the Halls of mandos and depending on their deeds of that life, they stay there for a while and then they are reborn in Valinor and when they are full grown they remember all from their previous life. I also don't think he was the same one.

Why not Finwe? Etc. Why not Gil-Galad? 'Cause they... didn't. Not Glorfindel's fault. I like Glory, and Gil-Galad's cool too. Never know, maybe Gil-Galad was resurrected too, but Tolkien never wrote about it... ;D

"Some notes that were scribbled down at Sidmouth in Devon in the late summer of 1938 (Biography, p. 187) on a page of doodles evidently represent my father's thoughts for the next stages of the story at this time: Consultation. Over M[isty] M[ountains]. Down Great River to Mordor. Dark Tower. Beyond(?) which is the Fiery Hill. Story of Gil-galad told by Elrond? Who is Trotter? Glorfindel tells of his ancestry in Gondolin."...... Very notable is "Glorfindel tells of his ancestry in Gondolin". Years later, long after the publication of The Lord of the Rings, my father gave a great deal of thought to the matter of Glorfindel, and at that time he wrote: "[The use of Glorfindel] in LotR is one of the cases of the somewhat random use of the names found in the older legends, now referred to as the Silm, which escaped reconsideration in the final published form of The Lord of the Rings." He came to the conclusion that Glorfindel of Gondolin, who fell to his death in combat with a Balrog after the sack of the city (II. 192-4, IV.145), and Glorfindel of Rivendell were one and the same: he was released from Mandos and returned to Middle-earth in the Second Age." (Christopher Tolkien, Return of the Shadow, HoME) "When did Glorfindel return to Middle earth? This must probably have occurred before the end of the Second Age, and the 'Change of the World' and the Drowning of Numenor, after which no living embodied creature, 'humane' or of lesser kinds, could return from the Blessed Realm which had been removed from the Circles of the World. This was according to a general ordinance proceeding from Eru himself; and though, until the end of the Third Age, when Eru decreed that the dominion of Men must begin, Manwe could be supposed to have received the permission of Eru to make exception in his case, and to have devised some means for the transportation of Glorfindel to Middle earth, this is improbable and would make Glorfindel of greater power and importance than seems fitting. We may then best suppose that Glorfindel returned [to Middle earth] during the Second Age, before the 'shadow' fell on Numenor, and while the Numenoreans were welcomed by the Eldar as powerful allies. His return must have been for the PURPOSE of strengthening Gil-galad and Elrond, when the growing evil of the intentions of Sauron were at last perceived by them. It might, therefore, have been as early as Second Age 1200..." (JRR Tolkien, Peoples of Middle-earth, HoME) "More important: Glorfindel had sacrificed his life in defending the fugitives of the wreck of Gondolin against a demon out of Thangorodrim and so enabling Tuor and Idril daughter of Turgon, and their child Earendil to escape, and seek refuge at the Mouths of the Sirion. Though he cannot have known the importance of this, this deed was of vital importance to the designs of the Valar" (JRR Tolkien, HoME, Last Writings)
This last one showing that the Valar were meant to send Glorfindel back.
so this one proofs that it is the same Glorfindel. hmm but Glorfindel doesent look like a strang warrior to me in the third age, he looks like a little wimp to me, sorry for al the Glorfindel fans:P

Actually, other Elves can return to life, but Glorfindel is the only one to return to Middle-earth in his second life.

No but he was reborn in Valinor so that must mean you can only come back to Middle-earth after you are returned from the Halls of Mandos but none can come back after the third age nor do they have any reason after that.

All elves, after they die, are eventually reborn into Valinor but maybe they didn't want to return, but it is a long time before they are reborn.
