I've asked this Question on another site, and would be interested to know your ideas. If you were an all powerful Valar and could change the fate of just one Tolkien charachter, who would it be and why? would it be Maedhros or any of his brothers? Feanor ? Maeglin, Boromir? Gollum or even the Dark Lord himself I know who I would choose. Tell me your choice,! . elflyn the curious.

That's a good question. I'd probably change the fate of Boromir. I'd let him live. I really think that it's so sad that he died; he was after all very noble at the end of it all. Poor Boromir...

Fingolfin's!! I hated that he died!!! I was so sad when I read it. I just really really liked him-and he was so brave to challenge Morgoth alone-He's one of my top favorite elves ever! I'm not sure why-just that I would like too who's your choice Elflyn

Thanks for all your replies, Look forward to many more! Ranger of ithilian ,my choice would be Maedhros (my fave Elf) If ever there was such an Elf torn in all directions, He was loyal to his father to the end, yet hated much of what the oath forced him and his brothers to do, he and Maglor had compassion that both had to kill as they killled thier kin ,losing thier own brothers in a doomed quest that neither wanted. Yes ,Maedhros the tortured in body and soul is the one whose fate I would change.

I don't know whose I'd change, because there are so many. Boromir is the obvious one, but then there's Maedhros, I really liked him . And also I would change Turin and Nienor's, it was so sad what happened to them

Oh, the compassionate person in me wants to change so many... but if I had to choose just one, it'd be Nienor/Turin. That story was so sad.
Then again, it was Tolkien's story. He had a plan for all this.
Interesting thread.

I would change the fate of Feanor. He makes his vow, and causes so much trouble for the Noldor and others (Teleri) and then dies in battle in what seems to be a short time after returning to Middle Earth. He really was a genius, if he did not have to endure all the pain that results from the vow of his sons and he. I think he should have lived longer to see in full the consequences of his actions!!!

Many that live deserve death. And some die that deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then be not too eager to deal out death in the name of justice, fearing for your own safety. Even the wise cannot see all ends.
