I cried. I couldn't believe he was actually leaving. I knew he had been ill, but I didn’t want him to go away.

Neither the book or movie scene could fail to bring years to my eyes, but I was never surprised or upset over it, because years ago when I read it, dad had told me the whole story beforehand anyway. I was glad that PJ did The Grey Havens properly. (Alright, so Celeborn wasn't supposed to be there, and Cirdan was supposed to be, but I'm over that)

I was very sad that he left, but I didn't cry. I never did like the ending to the book, but I realize now that he sorta had to. Well, not really HAD to, but you know what I mean.

I cried, both when I saw the movie and when I read the book. I thought it was so sad that he had gone through so much to save first the Shire, and then everyone in Middle Earth from evil, and then his hurts went so deep that he couldn't save it for himself. I felt so bad for him, but at the same time happy, that he could go somewhere where he could find peace and quiet.
Although when I read the book I cried mostly because the book was over, and I kind of felt like everyone had left me and they went on with their lives without me. So I started reading it all over again, it made me feel a lot better.

I was both a little sad and surprised. I don't remember if I actually cried, but I certainly didn't throw the book. I handle them very carefully... But I think overall I was just sad about the books ending, and sad that he left, and sad for Sam. I remember thinking how he must have felt, because Merry and Pippin went home together singing, and he was by himself. But I *certainly* cried during the movie, no doubt about that! Even though it wasn't a surprise, it was incredibly touching...

I was glad he left for Valinor, but also sad because he had to leave Sam, Merry, and Pippin
