I just dont think he really had anything to say to them. I mean what's he going to say? "Wow that ring looks really heavy Frodo." ?? I mean, as I think someone already said, he is a very strait-to-business kind of person, not really one to mess around.

Yeah, exactly! What would Legolas have to say? Lol, but I agree Jenny, he seems very straight forward, not just blabbering on and on about nothing really very important.

Dunno, I think he says something in the book though. He can't hate them. ;D

Leggy doesn't hate the critters, oops hobbits He speaks to them in detail - Merry and Pippin in the houses of healing in Gondor about their trek through the paths of the dead. He talks to them all about the stones talking about the elves having lived there and about 'finding the sun" In the movie - well he talks about their grief after Gandalf's fall in Moria can't remember much else...need sleep

As mentioned many times before, he doesn't have a lot to say to the hobbits..."And you have my bow." That works! After the Breaking of the Fellowship, he doesn't see any hobbits until Isengard. Then Pippin leaves, and there's not really any oppurtunity to speak to Merry. Who knows, maybe he does speak to the hobbits sometimes, but we just don't see it.

Elves in general just aren't big talkers. They only speak when they find it necessary or to express something. Legolas does fol around once and a while but not with words. And he actually does speak with them but mostly about what happened and stuff.

I think that was just the kind of guy Legolas was. I mean, he didn't talk to anyone else (examples: Eowyn, Theoden). He's probably shy and elves don't talk alot either. I dont think he meant it to look like he hated them.

And also, elves from Mirkwood have one fault, they aren't very keen on strangers so maybe he wanted to keep his distance. But about the hobbits: I wouldn't even think for a second that he hated them. He's just not that big of a talker to anyone really.
