Both, cant and would not decide. They both are Gandalf, just he got a bit upgraded in power after his return.

I would pick grey. When I read and watched the Fellowship, Gandalf seemed like a kind grandfather. He reprimanded people, but always forgave them in the end. As Gandalf the white, he seemed aloof and acted like he thoguht he was better than everyone else. That just kind of annoyed me

I couldn't decide, Gandalf is my favorite character, i like him either way. I like the way he 'looks' as Gandalf the White. Much cleaner lol. But either way, he's still Gandalf to me. ;D

Yes, I was going to say that Gandalf the Grey is better..but then I realised without the 'white', the war against Saruman may not have been won. However, yes it did seem to me that Gandalf underwent a personality change, as characters often do. I say, though, that I like both Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White. Gandalf the white= Gandalf the grey + power + wisdom [? is that possible] + a sense of seriousness. I guess this sense of seriousness stems from the fact that now, the war really is getting bigger, and the whole of Middle Earth as a general is getting more serious. If you check the movies, also, the movies get more..dreary..the colouring, of the 2nd movie. I noticed this, after being pointed this out by the special effects DVDs.

White played a trick though! On Leggie, Aragorn and Gimli in the Forest. He pretended to be Saruman! Ah wel, I love them both to bits

I like Gandalf in any way. Gandalf the Grey I do like a little bit more, because he seems closer to other persons....the wizard travelling around, smoking his pipe.....but probably Gandalf the White is so serious because he must think of his task and the whole situation is not amusing at all. But I really like the scene where he talks to Pippin about death in RotK.

Oh, I can't choose. It's too difficult for me... Gandalf the Grey is so nice, friendly and wise. But Gandalf the White is so serious, wise, friendly and mighty. Very mighty... No, I really can't choose^^.

I would have to say Gandalf the Grey - he seems more common and down to earth and friendly that way, when he becomes Gandalf the White, he becomes a little bit more...i dunno...strict?!? arrogant?!?! i dunno - i mean hes still the same old Gandalf but hes changed - and i dont mean just changed his clothes and got his beard/hair/nasal/ear hair trimmed lol xTx
