Is that from the movie? I can't find that quote in the book, I might be able to give some input if I knew where it was. “But you are alone. Who knows what you’ve spoken to the darkness, in bitter watches of the night, when all your life seems to shrink, the walls of your bower closing in about you, a hutch to trammel some wild thing in.” What is this passage meant to mean?

Gandalf says that to Eowyn in the Houses of Healing
He's trying not to comfort her, but to make her realize what great feat she had accomplished. (he's really harsh about it though!)
