his acting wasn't the best, i dont find him that attractive and i think if the casting people looked REALLY hard, they could have found someone who could have played legolas really well...it's a bit unfortunate that most people like him because he's hot...
this is just my opinion, dont jump all over me legolas/OB fans, just voicing my opinion...

OK, I am not picking on anyone, I am simply answering any and all accusations. If someone has a problem, tell me, and I'll answer. *sigh* Here I go rescuing Leggie again. First. Yes, I agree that the character in the movie is somewhat 2D. but he has his moments. Such as: His stalwart defense of Aragorn at the council of Elrond.(did anyone get the impression they'd known eachother before?) rescuing Boromir, Gimli, and Aragorn in Moria. Being willing to go against his own kind to defend the Fellowship in Lothlorien. His concern and grief after Aragorn falls off the cliff in TT. Voicing his fears to Aragorn at Helm's Deep, then asking forgiveness. His light-hearted teasing of Gimli. Rescuing Aragorn and Gimli when they are trapped at the gate. Refusing to leave his friend to face the Paths of the Dead Alone. Trying desparately to come to Aragorn's defense at the Black Gate. And their affectionate greeting at Aragorn's coronation. Whew! That was long. As for his appearance, the blond hair isn't so bad, but Tolkien never did say what color Legolas' hair was, so considering that Thranduil had golden hair, it was the best guess. Mind you, Tolkien did say that he had grey eyes. I always describe them as 'silver-blue' to try and capture the essence of both the book and the movie when I write fanfiction. Then, Orlando Bloom. (Here goes nothing) I think he's a very talented actor, an actor cannot help a bad script or a lame character, they simply have to make the most of it. I have seen him in most of his other movies and I think that most would agree with me that he played his parts well. (Actors have to get paid too you know) And as far as girls being obsessed with him. Well, I liked Legolas in the book before I ever saw the movie. I think when I truly lost my heart to him was in the Paths of the Dead and the line where 'his eyes glittered in the darkness' He was so alive! And so different! I guess that's the reason it didn't take me long to love the Legolas of the movies either. And why do I love Orli? I love him for the caring, funny, playful person he is, and not because of his appearance. (Sure that's an added plus, but hey! ) So go ahead, yell at me if you want, but I'm an Orlando Bloom luver to the end. (And I'm pretty attached to legolas too.) And no, I don't see anyone else playing the part. Nobody at all.

I completely, 100% agree with you!!! Thanks for sticking up for Olando fans everywhere!!!!!!! ;D I especially love the different faces Olando makes in reaction to certain situations. Especially, outside of Moria, after Gandalf falls. He looks confused and sad, because elves don't know what death is like. Thanks again!!!! i think Orli was good as legolas because the role didnt require much....... talent. not that orli isnt talented, he just hasnt really had a chance to prove it yet. his lines kinda sucked in lotr, so it made him seem stupid (a diversion) but i think he did a fine job as legolas because he seemed pretty much like the legolas in the book. (he just didnt sing as much)

Why do you think that they didn't make his character more like the character in the books??

I've said this about a billion times, but I'll say it again. I think that OB did an ok job as Legolas. I have to cut him some slack b/c he hasn't done too many movies. I think his script was horrible though. I dunno, he just didn't impress me in the movies. (All OB fans, don't get really mad at me plz!!!)

I won't get mad! It is his first movies and he didn't have alot of lines in rotk but he just always there. I thought he did good I liked him. He played legolas very well for his first big movie. I can't think of anyone else playing legolas like orlando did. Who do you think legolas would have been better played by?

I think I said in the first post that I think that he didn't do a great job as Legolas, but I couldn't imagine anyone else as Legolas. I dunno though, I have a really bad memory.

Sorry If I seemed that I was putting word in your mouth that you didn't say, I guess my thinking was if you didn't think orlando did a great job you had some one else in mind that could have done if better. So for the miss conunication.

I totally agree. I think the script was at fault, not the actor. In the other movies he's played in, the characters he is supposed to portray come across very well. I luv Orli!

I've seen most of his movies. Still need to see Ned Kelly though... I thought Midsomer Murders was a bit...strange.

If I may join in this conversation (I've already read through all your responses and found all of them entertaining and most of them legitimate.) I must say that while Legolas did have some incredibly stupid lines ("A diversion") and the scene in RotK with the King of the Dead was pretty pathetic as well, the reason he was all act and no speak is because he's an Elf. I can take Legolas jokes to a certain extent, but the fact of the matter is, he's an Elf, and Elves weren't known for being talkative. And on the subject of Orlando, PJ himself is quoted as saying "We chose the most perfect human beings to play the Elves". You all know what this means. And this is about a guy who didn't audition for Legolas at all--he auditioned for Faramir the Prince of Ithilien, a very complex character. So yeah, there's my two cents on the subject. Sorry to drag this subject out longer than it needs to be. But basically the bottom line is: He's an Elf.

My friend is a Orlis fan of the death... So I cant complain bout him @ all... But in the FOTR his acting was really weak.. I know he just graduated from a Drama school. And theres just that annoyes me bout Legolas, he knows everything. That REALLY BUGS ME But otherwise he did a GR8 *JOB.. I think no one could have played Legolas as well as Orlando Bloom.. Cheers to him
