I think Hugo Weaving was cast well as Elrond. He did a magnificent job. But I don't relate him to the Elrond I read in the books... They're too different from the book and the film, it's like he's got a different attitude in the movie. Though I think the Elrond in the book is as good as in the movie, probably because then I have the opportunity to look at both type of Elronds. It's fun seeing him in two different ways.

Yea i agree with Arwen the Webmaster. I think he was cast very well, but..they didnt really portray him as like.."nice" i mean..hes nice..but hes just kind of not the way you would picture him..i mean Aragorn is his Adopted son, and Arwen is his daughter.

Yeah, Hugo did a great job. He wasn't one of the ones where I went, "It looks like just out of the book!" though. Probably because I was still getting over the Matrix. Once you see someone in a role like that, it's hard to visualize them in a completely different role. But Hugo did very well, although he did appear a bit intimidating at times...

Hugo Weaving is one of my favorite actors.
Was he the way I pictured elrond in the book? No.
Was he the best person for the part? Probably not.
Do I care? Not in the slightest! That guy is awsome and I am glad he was in the part.

Hugo was perfect. I just thank the gods that Bowie didn't play Elrond.

I have to say I didn't like him. I have nothing against Hugo Weaving as an actor, but I didn't like him as Elrond. I also always see Agent Smith when I look at him in LOTR. But he wasn't at all what I pictured him as when I read the books.
A lot of what I didn't like was the character Hugo created. He seemed much too emotionally volatile to be an elf. I know he's called "Elrond Half-Elven" but he seemed too human a character. He wasn't the majestic authority I imagined. I think what Hugo did was good for the version they created in the films, but wasn't the character I found in the books.

I think we was good as Elrond but his eyebrows seemed kind of wierd and unelrondish Esspecially when he sees Merry and Pippin at the council. I also do keep inmagining him saying "Mr Anderson" at the end of each line. I would have quite liked to see Sam Neil as Elrond, he was really good in the television version of Merlin
