Would anyone like to start a WWII RPG with me? If so, let me know as well as any ideas you have. My ideas so far are about the Army Air Force in England. My character would be a crew member in a B-17 bomber. Most bomber planes need a crew of ten people (pilot, co-pilot, navigater, bombardier, radio operator, top-turret gunner, ball-turret gunner, left waist gunner, right waist gunner, tail gunner). Glad to have anyone join.

Okay. I'll be the girlfriend of a soldier....and also a medic! For the wounded Americans. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jane walked through the tent, with all of her medicine, and such. She set it down on a table, and put everything in place. She was so concentrated in her work, that she didn't notice anything else going on around her. She was scred, though. Due to all of the war talk, that was going around.

To start I'll be playing two characters. Name: Lt. Danny Thomas Age: 22 Bio: Signed up after Pearl Harbor. An American. In the Army Air Force and is part of a crew of a B-17 bomber. His base is in England. He is married to Rosemary Thomas. Got married to college sweetheart before he had to leave for England. His station on the plane is being the Navigator as well as manning a gun in the nose of the plane. He's been recently wounded. He and his crew have not yet completed their 25 missions. He misses his wife. No children.
Name: Rosemary Thomas Age: 21 Bio: Helps out in the war effort as much as she can while her husband is over seas. She volunteers in a factory and helps make parts of planes. In her spare time she also entertains the troops. She good at singing and dancing and will soon go over seas to entertain the troops with her group. She earns money working as a secretary at a Military Base in America. She rights the letters that people get informing them that their relative has died and she grows fearful and worries about her husband. That lineof work is too stressful, so she goes into the entertainment business to raise the morale of the troops. Might have more characters later. Who knows? ((Have to go. Post more later.))

Lt. Danny Thomas is Irish-American and everyone sings the song "Danny Boy" to him and he hates it. He has auburn hair and green eyes. He's 5'11" and can be shy. He's very serious when it comes to his responsibilites as a Navigator. He likes and yet fears the poem by W.B. Yeats called "An Irish Airman Forsees His Death." It goes through his mind every mission. (Anyway, since Ienne took the initiative of starting, I'll go along with what she posted.)
In England, back on base, Danny was being tended by a medic in the small hopsital ward. That day he had completed his mission over France, the 18th, and he was scathed by a bullet. He was OK but he couldn't help thinking that it was a close one. The medic had finished putting on the bandage and Danny slowly walked outside and had a cigarette. He never smoked before the war, but after seeing too much aerial combat he needed some way to relax his nerves. He saw the ground crew fixing the damaged parts on his crew's plane for the next mission that would come too soon. He turned and walked towards the barracks when he saw his crew members. He saw the top-turret gunner, Spooky Jimmy, and smiled. He was good friends with Jimmy. Danny wondered what paranormal story Spooky Jimmy had in store for him.
((By the way, thank you so much for joing Rumli. It's nice to have someone be the top-turret gunner. What should we name the plane?))

((oh, here's the poem "An Irish Airman Forsees His Death" by W.B. Yeats. It's on of my favorite poems and could help out in this RPG.))
An Irish Airman Forsees His Death By W.B. Yeats
I know that I shall meet my fate somewhere among the clouds above; Those that I fight I do not hate, those that I guard I do not love. My country is Kiltartan Cross, my countrymen Kiltartan's poor; No likely end could bring them loss or leave them happier than before. Nor law, nor duty bade me fight, nor public men nor cheering crowds; A lonely impulse of delight drove to this tumult in the clouds. I balanced all, brought all to mind; The years to come seemed waste of breath, a waste of breath the years behind; In balance with this life, this death.
((Has anyone of you seen the film The Memphis Belle starring Sean Astin, Eric Stolz, and Matthew Modine? If not, I suggest you see it. It's a good film.))

(( ^^ I LOVE THAT POEM! ))
Jimmy waved as Danny approached. " Danny! " he said, his Irish brouge coming through. When talking to a British government leader..Or even an American leader he had to try and hide his accent as much as possible. " Aye Danny, how are ya? " He asked, as he hauled a piece of machinery over to a fellow crewmember. " Come on Larry, take it... take it man I can't hold on much longer!" Thankfully Larry relieved Jimmy of his load. Jimmy walked back to Danny and looked around. " We'll be off in a short time.."

"Well, I already went to Navigator's Briefing," said Danny. "We're going to Lorient, France. I hope it'll be a milk-run." Danny exhaled some smoke slowly as he watched the ground crew loading the bombs into the plane. "Do you think daylight bombing will work?" he asked Jimmy. "I mean, we've been doing daylight raids for months now. Are we really getting anywhere with it?" Larry came over and asked for a smoke. "So, Danny," he said, "what's the target for today?" Larry was the left-waist gunner. "It's Lorient, France," replied Danny. "Well at least it's not somewhere over Germany, where the flak is so thick you could practically walk on it." said Larry. "Yeah, I guess," said Danny. "I've heard though that the flak is pretty thick over Lorient." "Ah, snafu," said Larry. "What does Will say?" Will was the captain and pilot of the plane, the big guy in charge. He's from Scotland and admires the legendary William Wallace and is always telling the crew heroic tales about him. "I don't know," answered Danny. "I think he's worried that there might be a cloud cover over the bombsight." "Great." "We'd better get something to eat before take-off," said Danny. "Yeah, like we actually have the stomach for it." said Jimmy. "Who can eat before a mission?" They started walking towards the mess hall. They were silent for a moment. But, as usual, Larry, being the light-hearted joker of the crew, broke the silence. "Hey," he said, "I heard a great joke from the tail-gunner of City By the Bay. Here it goes . . ." he started in, trying to lift up the morale.
((I don't know what the name of the plane should be. I was thinking something like Scarlett Bullet or Hell Riders, but being that the pilot is Scottish maybe the name should have to do more with Scotland or Ireland. The pilot is the one who names the plane. Let me know what you think the name should be.))

(( Hmm..Well my friends an I have a bunch of Irish boats and stuff..Queen Anne's Revenge, Tobacco Island...))
" Not another joke.." Jimmy said, shaking his head. As Larry continued with his joke, Jimmy went over the lines of a poem he had wrote for his girlfriend, Bess. Bess being a poet, he always tried to outrhyme her with poems and songs. He never really succeeded. " I want some squash. " Jimmy said out of the blue. He continued to walk towards the mess hall, half listening to Larry's joke, half thinking of his poem.

Danny politely laughed at Larry's joke. He had heard it before and it wasn't all that funny, but Danny didn't want to hurt Larry's feelings since Larry thrived on jokes. Danny looked at Jimmy as they entered the mess hall and saw that he was concentrating on something. Danny knew Jimmy well and figured he was working out a poem in his head. "What's this poem about?" asked Danny. He admired Jimmy for writing poetry, because Danny, himself, had no talent for it even though he enjoyed poems very much. "By the way, how is Bess doing? Have you heard from her lately?"
((I like Queen Anne's Revenge . . . what about Bloody Mary, as in Mary Queen of Scots. . .or Selke Island which has to do with Celtic mythology, both Irish and Scottish?))
((Sorry, I'm American but I'm very proud of my Scottish hertiage and I wish I were Irish as well.))

(( Good names! Pick whichever. ))
" Well it's a poem about...the forest." Jimmy said blinking. " but forests hold special significance for the both of us. " he said, peering over a man's shoulder to see what he was eating. " Bess? Ah I don't know. She said she'd stop by before we left. I can't wait. "
