Alright, I felt like doing something a little different from all the other threads in this section, so here it is. We all know that PJ is trying to make The Hobbit into a movie sometime in the future, right? So, what do you guys think the soundtrack will be like? What kind of themes or music would you like to be in it? Who do you think will perform on it, or who would you like to see in the soundtrack? Give me your thoughts please.

I think that maybe there wil;l be a Shire theme, like in Lord of the Rings. I don't know what Peter Jackson has in store, but I am sure it will be as great as Lord of the Rings!

it might be strange... because The Hobbit seemed more childish to me... I don't know if the soundtrack will be as dramatic as the OST for LOTR.

I think I'd like Howard Shore to do the soundtracks still, as he's got that connection with LotR. In my personal opinion, a new composer would feel like an intruder to me.

agreed- new composers only change the feel of the setting... I think maybe the music would be quite dark and creepy like some of the music in Pirates of the Carribbean, because of the spiders in Mirkwood and the dragon..

Still epic, though!

I never really thought of The Hobbit as 'epic..' just... it was too kiddy for me.

Well, not epic, exactly, I guess...but still, well, exciting. After all, pursued by goblins...the battle...you'd have to have some parts exciting like that.

I agree. It would have to be a deathly, eerie score for the spiders and a looming, dark and booming effect for Smaug. And some trills and fast music for when Smaug practically burn-a-nates they entire city. And probably some floating funny music for the barrel scenes. They better bring Howard Shore back, and I totally agree on the same reasons, another would feel like an intruder. And if they could get Billy to sing a few songs perhaps. Or maybe Viggo. But they would have to get some deep-voiced but humorous men to sing for the dwarves. ;D

One of the greatest and best things of the Lord of the Rings movies was the Soundtrack by Howard Shore. I am very sure I would have liked it in a whole other way if he did not compose the music score for the movies. I really hope Howard Shore will do the music for the Hobbit Movie, otherwise I will think twice before I go to the cinema to watch it. I think Howard Shore is the perfect man for this job and I am very certain he wants to do it, I have seen him on the Extended Edition of the Return of the King saying something like: "If I could go on for another couple of years, I would gladly accept it." Could be a hidden hint?

good ol' Howard better do the soundtrack for the Hobbit - i mean, if you look what he says inside the ROTK soundtack sleeve, he's really sad that the LOTR projects are over - i agree that if anyone else done the score/soundtrack it would feel...i dunno, incomplete - Howard brings something..delicate but sturdy, into his music - theres something vital there - it HAS to be his passion, we DEMAND that he does the soundtrack for the Hobbit!!!! HOORAH!!! ;D ;D ;D xTx

howard is a genus, the LotR won't be the same without the music and I have a feeling the Hobbit's music would be the same if not better than the LotR if he did the soundtrack

I don't think it could be better! *shakes head* I really can't think how The Hobbit could ever compare with LOTR...

Absolutely! If Howard was to make the soundtrack to LotR then he would be perfect for the Hobbit too. He is a Middle-earth soundtrack-maker now.
