I doubt they could make a film out of The Silmarrilion, because it's mainly just the history of middle eartch, not that much of an actually story...just history...

I think it would be VERY hard to make the Silmarillion into a movie!

It's possible they could make a movie but it wouldn't be good. But I did think of that today!

it would be cool if they could make it into a story and put it into a movie i.e. have it where somebody has to kill melkor/morgoth

I really don't see how it could work; it would be like making a movie called "The History of the World". I mean, people were very confused by all the characters in LotR--there are about 10 times more NEW characters in The Silmarillion! It could work if they just picked one tale (the Tale of Turin could be interesting...), but I'm not that hopeful.

If they made a movie out of it they would probilly make more than one. Like one on the differant parts. If that makes sense.

I'm working on the stage play adaptation of the Silmarillion - I'm trying to get my drama company to go for it at the moment.
I'm focusing mostly on Beren, Luithien, the return of the Noldor and the tale of the Jewels.
You can just about get it all in to two hours, but you have to miss a lot out.
It's a good tale though, and contains beautiful lines like;
"The fate of Middle-earth will never be decided by the possession of rings, Beren son of Barahir"

That sounds awesome! And a movie would be great. I really think it would. I don't understand it when people say it wouldn't!!
