I didn't shout anything but when Aragorn said, 'For Frodo' I said in my head, "Awwww! Poor Sam! He deserves credit. If it wasn't for him, Frodo wouldn't have been there at Mordor!"

I agree with stefanie. Sam did a lot. Think about it. He stuck by frodo all this time. He is one loyal friend. He put up with frodos STUPID desicions like not listening to sam when he was trying to tell frodo gollum was bad news. Hecarried frodo up Moutn doom so he could get rid of the ring. Do you klnow of a friend who would do that for you? Sam went after frodo and saved him from sheleb and went after his and saved him from that tower thing the orcs put him in. He did alot of frodo looked after him gave him food even thought he was hungry himself and helped him along the way. If you really think bout it sam is a strong character and a very VERY good friend.

Sam brings a whole new meaning to the term "best friend." He was truly one of the best characters in LotR. Without Sam, Frodo would have died, and he really doesn't get enough credit. Everyone is always too busy swooning over Legolas or some other person and Sam just gets pushed aside!!! It's heartbreaking if you think about it.

It's Sam's lot in life. He is a servant, in a sense. I don't think he would appreciate the credit necessarily. He is very simple. Also, Frodo had an incredible journey. People say that he didn't do much, and was a bit of a whimp, but that is not at all true. The only reason Sam stayed stronger was because he did NOT carry the Ring. If Sam had carried it, things would have been very different.

Thats good point LuthienEleni, one of the reasons sam stayed strong was because he didnt carry hte ring, but also he has the most honest of hearts or personalitys if you will.
He was a servent, servents are thought of as lower individuals, they blend into the background are are practially invisible. What you dont see is the leniency and the dependance that the "masters" have on these people, there is no way a master can be a master without their servant.
Sam might not have the most dignified role, but in him he has the dependancy the honesty and the integrity it takes to be a highly regarded person..
Frodo might be the type of person who goes down in the pages of history, but sam is the person who everyone in their hearts desires to be....one who can turn down the evils and the tempations of the world (the ring) and still walk away a dignified honorable and respecible person.
Tolkein defintly created a character of eminencein sam

Frodo begins the movie as the hero, but in the end, it is Sam who takes up the mantle and becomes the hero-- without Sam, Frodo wouldn't have made it far at all. Without Sam, hope would have been lost. Without Sam, Frodo would probably have died or been killed-- by Shelob or someone else-- or the ring taken. Sam arguable goes on the biggest 'journey' through the movies-- some of the deepest tests of loyalty, friendship, what he really believes in... I have always loved it in the books when Aragorn says to him "it's been a long road for all of us, but your's has been the most difficult". Then he places Frodo and Sam on his throne! This honors Sam much more than in the movie, where Aragorn pays equal respects to Frodo, Sam-- and Pippin and Merry! Sam has always been my #1 favorite. I could go on and on and on... Though in the end, if Gollum hadn't tried to take the ring, it wouldn't have been destroyed.

im with you even before i knew what a large role he'd play in the end he was my fav. but as for frodo getting more credit.... mabye in this world but remember in the book he didnt get much of any credit in the shire. and i was a little disappointed in the movies at how small aragorns roll was i mean he was gone for like half the movie, well not all gone but still all you saw of him in an hour and a half of the film is a 30 sec scene in the paths of the dead. But anyway I totally agree sam is the very very very best!!!

Not that I'm biased or anything ;D, but I totally agree. If it weren't for Sam, Frodo would have been dead five minutes into the Two Towers. Not to mention the six or seven times he has to save his life from that point on.
I think Sam got credit for all that he did, even if he received less than he should have. You have to remember that it was by Frodo's self sacrifice that the Ring made it to the Crack of Doom. Even if he fell into its power at the most inopportune moment, he still got it there. And yes, I do hope everyone realizes it was because, for the most part, of Sam's strength and loyalty.

i so agree.i reckon sam shouldve got more credit than he did.frodo wouldnt have got far without sam-to quote frodo. i also reckon smeagol/gollum should have credit 2.If he hadnt turned up at the end frodo would have kept the ring. anyway thats a bit off the topic.... SAM RULES!
