Why is nobody posting on this one? We have a huge gathering of LotR knowledge on this forum, I refuse to believe that we can't get more info on the this!!! So come on fellow Ringers and share your wisdom!

I think maybe it's a small wildflower, but I'm not sure what kind. Okay, that doesn't really help, does it?

Yay, a reply!!! *does a happy dance* I think maybe it's a small wildflower, but I'm not sure what kind. Okay, that doesn't really help, does it? At least you tried, good friend, and it could easily be a wildflower.... perhaps a wildflower with some kind of make up!

I have seriously searched high and low in Google and I couldn't find anything. Maybe you should write a letter to WETA or Peter Jackson or something, I don't know, they could tell you, couldn't they?

Thanks for searching ArieN. I'm surprised that it doesn't say that anywhere, I mean after all we're not the only ones on the internet who like LotR and exchange all kinds of knowledge about it

btw...it's called simbelmyne without 'r' I did not find anything about the species of the flower but a very interesting essay where simbelmyne is part of. Everyone who has a deeper interest in Tolkien's writing should read it, I think: www.troynovant.com/Stoddard/Tolkien/Simbelmyne-Memory.htmlLOL! There is even a simbelmyne fanlisting!;D www.eorlingas.org/petals/about.phpBut they don't say anything about the species I'm afraid:-/ On another site I found that simbelmyne means something like: 'always faithful' There are lots of simbelmyne sites. But I did not find anything concrete....

There are lots of simbelmyne sites. But I did not find anything concrete.... Lol, yeah that's the problem in this case that it doesn't say what exact flower played Simbelmynë in the movies However, I did a simple search on Encyclopedia of Arda and here's what it says: Small flowers of many pale colours. Frodo and Sam found white and blue anemones growing in the fragrant flowered lands of Ithilien, and Tolkien also hints that simbelmynë was also a variety of anemone, or at least similar in appearance. Also Simbelmynë is translated Evermind referring to the dead on whose graves it grows and blooms all year round. Sounds so nice, I want Simbelmynë on my grave too ;D

^meanwhile I checked the encyclopedia of arda too and found the same thingy:) Funny that we both had the idea;) lol. Encyclopedias are helpful;) I think it makes sense that theymight be some sort of anemone...they have something anemone-y Make sure to put that into your last will;) Well....let's not think od death now: ....but the thought in lotr is indeed very nice. I wrote a poem on simbelmyne for the poetry contest....but I don't dare posting it... I was simply motivated to do it because of this thread....;D
