Arwen stole Glorfindel's lines, his horse, and some of Frodo's part. Why didn't PJ at least put Frodo in charge of the horse? It would have been more impressive...

I think they felt a need to appeal to the female audience or something...

I love Glorfindel. But I guess it would become too complicated. And too difficult to introduce her in the story later without making the film even longer. Arwen was included for the romance. I would've likes Glorfindel better. It gives a special "touch" to the story: one of the few elves who is strong enough to fight the ringwraits, the way Frodo sees him with all the light surrounding him and the explanation of that.

That part is true. But they didn't use Arwen because of the time it would have taken to introduce a new character and he was only going to be in that part and he played no other role in the movie. Though I do wish the had used him. But Arwen wasn't bad.

I like Arwen, but I personally don't think she adds too much to the movies. I think a lot of people just view her as Aragorn's love interest, and that's it. Okay, that may be true, but that makes her sound...I don't know.

she's not my favorite, I like Galadriel. But I can see why everyone else likes her. She's the most beautiful, has a hot guy, gives up something very dear to her, they have the ideal sad/romantic love story, and she really is strong but not in the physical way. I like her just not as much as the Lady.

Arwen's a nice character, but in the books she only appears twice. It would be a little confusing for people unfamiliar with the books if suddenly this elf appeared and married Aragorn. You kinda need to get used to Arwen being there. And, as was said, introducing Glorfindel would have been hard.

Yeah. They had to make her known a bit more and Glorfindel would have had to be introduced and that would have taken up time though I wouldn't have minded.

I don't like anything they did with Arwen in the film, being a Glorfindel fangirl lol. PJ said himself that they gave her the Flight to the Ford scene because, and I quote, 'The film needs a femenine influence.' I think that's just PC gone mad. I think it would have been better to have Frodo do the whole 'you shall have neither the Ring nor me' bit at the falls instead of Arwen, it just adds to the people thinking Frodo is a complete wimp, which, in reality, he wasn't. As for Arwen's appearence in the other films, I don't like it but I can understand that they needed to put her in somewhere otherwise at the end of RotK when she marries Aragorn non-book people wouldn't know who she was, and the fact she's giving up her immortality is important. What I hate is that they attempt to make her one of the five main characters of the film, like she's as important as Frodo, Gandalf, Sam and Aragorn. They try to make her the 'main' female character in the trilogy, when she most certainly is not. And I'm not just saying that because I'm an Eowynite lol.

I like the Arwen-scenes, by now I could not imagine how it would have been Glorfindel in her stead, like in the books. I believe, Arwen takes a serious part to explain the difficulty of immortal life of the Elves. She has to choose between Aragorn and her people - her family and PJ put it to great importance. For this theme appears in all the tree parts, in FOTR, in TTT and at least in ROTK. It is a very very important theme. The love between Aragorn and Arwen is also very important through the films, and I for my part liked that very much because it brings in some romance and love. That was very good!
