Hey I know they didnt do this on purpose, and werent copying any other movies, but there are a few parts in FotR that remind me of other parts of other movies (maybe its just me lol) 1. right after the Fellowship leaves Rivendell, there is the shots from the air of the fellowship climbing a mountain, and just the angles and sorta the music (?) remind me of the Sound of Music. How weird is that? I think I'm alone on this one 2. when they are in Moria, in Balin's "tomb" and Gandalf is reading the book, and it says "we cannot get out, they are coming...we cannot get out..." and the words get all sloppy and trail off the page, it reminds me of the part in the cave in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the priest guy is reading what Joseph of Antioch (i think thats his name...) wrote- "it is in the castle of Aaaaggghh..." and the words trail off the wall. Anyways, I cant help but laugh at that part... Does anyone else know what I am talking about? 3. When Galadriel goes all...blue... and her voice gets deep, and she seems to get bigger, she reminde me of Ursula in the Little Mermaid when she grows and is all scary.... but only slightly reminds me of that.
Ok, anyways you all probably think I'm crazy (and I dont blame you lol) but like I said, I am not at ALL saying that they copied, it is just my weird self that made the obscure connections...

Sorry, had to delete a few posts since they were few-worded and non-topic-related...apologies. I really didn't notice anything that related to Monty Python or the Sound of Music etc...but you are more experienced and observative/perceptive than I am.

How weird is that? I think I'm alone on this one I'll admit it, I thought of the Sound of Music as well and was waiting for a Julie Andrews voice over singing "The hills are aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive..."
So glad I'm not the only nutcase who noticed it ;D

Sound of music...Monty Python...Ursula...Those all make perfect sense. The Ursula thing sort of crossed my mind before, like I knew the scene looked familiar, oh well...

I thought of the sound of music too at that bit And the bit that reminded me of Monty Python was Aragorn fighting Lurtz which is a bit like the bit with the black knight in The Holy Grail. Also I know these aren't FOTR but in TTT Aragorn falling off the cliff is like in Indianna Jones and the Last Crucade when he falls off the cliff. (And the actor who plays Gimli looks down for him in both films ;D) And in ROTK at mount doom when Frodo falls and Sam catchs him reminds me of Titanic. The bit where they first meet and also near the end when they are in the sea.

Hehe, this is all great stuff ;D When I first saw TTT, when the hobbits reach the Black Gate, and they look over to see all the Haradrim, and then the gate opens to let them in, I half expected them to disguise themselves and follow 'em in(Wizard of Oz) (was wondering if they were gonna start singing too-- oh-eeh-um, uh-yoooo-hum. Hehehehe) ;D
