I wish I had read the books before I watched the movie because that way I would have been more excited. Exactly. Thing is, I was only young when the films were out, and I know I wouldn't have understood the books then, I was way to immature...

I wish I had read the books before I watched the movie because that way I would have been more excited. I don't think so, I mean I'm glad that I first watched the movies and after a year I read the books because I'm sure that I would hate the movies if I had read the books before. I'm thinking that way because it was the same with Hp, I mean I was a realy Hp-book fan but when I saw the movies I started hating them... (and now I'm still hating them but I'm not a Hp fan anymore)

You wouldn't hate the movies if they did a good enough job! (which they did) That's why I hate the 3rd HP film because it was my favorite book but I wasn't very satified with the film.
Anyway, back on topic: I was really into the Fellowship, so I didn't think the beginning was very boring. The most boring part for me was in Ithilian before Faramir comes. There's like an entire chapter of just Sam, Frodo, and Gollum travelling and "the ring is getting heavier" and "he's out to kill us" kind of stuff. I mean it's fine to say that once or twice but for me it was just too much.
