I don't know exactly-it's kind of how you take it-I mean he was mean to the dwarves-but then the elves didn't like them anyway. The other thing was because he was so greedy--but-I don't know as I said it's sort of a personal opinion-(But being the father of Legolas he had to be somewhat good-what's Lego gonna turn out like then ) My opinon-he was pretty good- I stick up for elves over dwarves ANY day )

The Hobbit talks about Thranduil... At the end of The Hobbit, they talk to Thranduil and he seems nice. (If I recall correctly, or have I made this up in my fantasy to complete the story? I do that sometimes...) Maybe he's just suspicious. Who wouldn't be with the rising of Sauron. Since he gets along with Celeborn, he can't be too bad. (They stay in Midle-Earth together, after Galadriel has left.) At least he has raised his son in the right way.

I'd never considered him to be bad. I think if there was any concern about him having evil intentions then Elrond would have dragged it up and the Council of Elrond perhaps.

Thranduil was definetly good. They were just suspicious of strangers. They were not as highly as the elves of Rivendell but they were elves so therefore good people. they are of the Sindar race, the most beautiful race of elves. Thranduil has a love for green and white gems. And he is kind just suspicious of dwarves cause the two races don't get along. and why wouldn't he be. Mirkwood use to be caled Greenwood but when Sauron returned he plunged ti into darkness and huge spiders and stuff. It was called Greenwood the Great and known for it's beauty. You know, for some reason Legolas doesn't seem very much like his father. He doesn't seem to like jewels as much because he didn't really want to go the the Glittering Caves or whatever they wer called.

I thought Celeborn stayed with Elladan and Elohir until he'd had enough of the place and left himself... hm...

Celeborn and Thranduil seperated Greenwood into two parts. And when Celeborn tired of it he passed West. It's in the Return of the King apenddice.

Yeah, Thranduil's good. He's just, as many said, suspicious. And a bit quick-tempered, I think.

He is good but like The Hobbit says, if the the woodland elves had any fault it would be distrust of strangers.

I always liked Thranduil, he and his people (the Mirkwood Elves) seem to be so different from the rest of Elven-kind... less mysterious than the people of Lorien but still more hidden somehow...
He is naturally suspicious, but that is only because he has had to keep running since Sauron took up residence in Dol Goldur (sp?).

Yes, that's definetly true. And they aren't like them because the high elves spent their time perfecting their art unlike the Sindarin elves of Mirkwood.

I thought Thranduil was good... he was a king, what would you do if dwarves invaded your kingdom without warning? *tehe*
