I haven't seen much about the Hobbit in here, so I thought I'd start a new thread! I loved reading the Hobbit! I thought it was really good! Anyone else agree? What was everyone's favorite parts of the book?

That would be the first chapter. Very funny, that little conversation between Bilbo and Gandalf. I also love the songs and poems.

I am currently reading the Hobbit to my children, they like Bilbo's door and anytime Bilbo and Gandalf talk.
Myself, I like battle against the wolves and the Eagles rescuing them.

Antien: No, it isn't. I'm not certain which language it is (we in Holland (the Netherlands) call it "Aramees") but I think it's Aramaic (though I'm not certain if that's the correct translation... Sue me for my bad English!). It's from the Bible, the Gospel according to Mark. It means "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" A scream of agony which our Lord Jesus Christ uttered whilst suffering at the Cross.
On-topic: I just heard Tolkien reading a part of the Riddles in the Dark chapter. His Gollum-voice is brilliant!

I like the chapter where Bible rescues all the dwarves from the spiders cause it's the first time he manages to really prove how good he is.

My favorite part is probably the one with the three trolls going to eat Bilbo and company and then the trolls turn to stone.

I've read the book, actually, I have it, I have the game (beaten it about three times), and anticipating the movie...they could've done a MUCH better job on The Hobbit the game...it's kinda short and not supreme.......

What I really love is how, like a looong fairy tale, it appeals to such a broad age span. You can read it to a young child, say between 4-6, or to your grandparents, and both will most likely enjoy it. You can't read lotr to a 5 year old as easily, however. It's charming

Yeah I think it's Hebrew. I remember that quote from the bible. I just noticed the Eloi Eloi part(I never could really memorize it all).
