I see why they put her in and i agree that they should have done something wither her because otherwise at the end of RotK people who hadn't read the book wouldn't know who she was or why she was marrying Aragorn. I just dont like how they tried to make her the most important female character and how they put Liv's name before Viggo, the rest of the Fellowship, Miranda etc and also the way they put a big picture of her on the DVD boxes when Merry and Pippin and Eowyn weren't on there at all (OK, Eowyn was on the TT box but she was smaller than Arwen.)
I must admit that I quite enjoyed the tale of Aragorn and Arwen in the appendices of the book, i was nearly crying and thats saying something lol. I am also a big fan of Arwen's dresses. They are gorgeous!

I understand exactly what you mean. After I saw the fellowship and the towers at first, I really hated the character Arwen. I read the book first and I hated her most because of Glorfindel. I loved that guy in the books.
But then I looked at her from another point of view. When I noticed how wel she played her role, I left my prejudices behind. She still isn't my favorite character, but I like her now.
I think liv would make a nice luthien, I mean when aragorn met her at first he thought that he saw luthien.

I think they should make Luthien and Beren's tale a movie. And yes I do agree about the whole movie box incedent. And what happened to Galadriel. She isn't anywhere on it.

the story of beren and luthien is my favorite story, but the idea that viggo and lyv might play the parts isn't very good. their love story is from time to time the sme as the story of beren and luthien and if my memory isn't fooling me, jackson had used this in FOTR. on the bridge in rivendell arwen sais "do you remember when we first met?" and aragorn sais "i tought i was in a dream"...

Yes but he did think he was in a dream. Like the elvish minstrels who can make whatever they sing of appear before them. and he thought she was Tinuviel but she had long passed so he thought he had strayed into a dream.

I agree, to me, Lùthien will always be more beautiful than we could represent, but she'd be a good choice. I think Natalie should be Luthien, if they ever make a movie.

I would love to see the story of Beren/Luthien ..on the big screen, too.... but perhaps it should be two unknown actors to play the leading parts? ....like how they brought, Hayden Christensen in as Anakin Skywalker, and Nathalie Portman as Padmé...it gave us new actors to admire & a twist to the story... `new´story....new blood....avoid all possibilities to compare....

I wholeheartedly agree! They got all these awesome, previously unknown characters to play parts in the Lord of the Rings... Elijah Wood was the only actor I recognized when I first saw the movie. If they ever do make a movie of Beren and Lùthien, I hope they find somebody just like we always imagined her. Couldn't do that. There's no actress who could play Luthien, she's too perfect.

Arwen was breathtakingly beautiful and umcomparable to any human but they had Liv Tyler play her.

Perhaps a revised idea of our image of `beautiful´ and what it means to the individual? Anyone can be `beautiful´ beyond compare..to the eye of the beholder... I will reserve judgement, ´til the day; if/when the film, ever comes out on screen. Suilad....

By 'perfect' I don't mean beautiful. Being perfect doesn't mean being beautiful. And even if they could find an actress good enough to play Luthien, I still hope they wouldn't make a movie about the story of Beren and Luthien. Think it would be too big dissapointment, at least for me. I just like worship their story. <3

I think the woman on this button wouldn't make a bad Luthien. I would show the main page of the site with the large picture but it's on hiatus right now.
