It seemed that in ROTK the plot somehow turned onto Sam. I mean, he actually had to take the ring from Frodo to save him and...well, Sam saved Frodo from almost everything in that case *chuckle*. But, i think Sam doesnt get the credit that he deserves in the end of ROTK. In the end, it was technically Sam who saved middle earth, not Frodo. What do you think?

They both deserve the credit.
Frodo , I think if it hadn't been for him, there wouldn't be a fellowship.
Sam - he's really dedicated to make their way through for Frodo, Frodo is his motivator and without Frodo he's got nothing to live for.
He really is a big character in the books and movies and I loved it.

i agree with you--sam had to be like he was...plus, sam did and said abt the same thing in the book and the movies, so tolkien must've wanted for sam's character to emerge a little (or a lot!) more.

"We set out to save the Shire, Sam....and it has been saved....but not for me."
"You don't mean that."

Yeah. Frodo and Sam really kinda shared the heroism. Frodo was the ring bearing and he DOES deserve a lot of credit becuase he worked against the strength of the ring, and carried it when it weighed him down, and got it all the way to Mordor. But it wouldn't have happened without Sam, becuase of SAm's loyalty, braveness, Shrewdness and Strength. THen again, Sam would have chickened out WAY before had Frodo not been there. So I really think that they have equal heroism. And Sam got what he wanted in the end. So he did get what he deserved in a way, except that not everyone appreciates him as much as called for.

Thank you for answering me guyz, i tried disscusing this with my family and i couldnt even get a word out b/c everyone was talking so frantically about it at the time and didnt care. O well! Thankyou though. I do agree with you guys, but it just seems to me everyone pushes sam to the side when, as you all put it, Frodo couldnt have done it without Sam.

They should both get credit! But Frodo should get more because hey, is it easier to hold the ring or be with someone who is? ;D

LoL--i dunno, because i probably would have gone NUTS in sam's shoes...he had to deal with a best friend obsessed with this ring, and he had no way of understanding what it felt like (until he put it on in shelob's lair, of course)...he was really patient, hats off to him for sure!

I've been thinking bout this and i think that sam and frodo are like an Oreo cookie.....okay let me explain...
See Sams the Icing that holds the buiscuits together and frodos the chocolate cookies, it can only be a full oreo cookie if you have both of them.......did i loose you? well it made sense to me
any way I think sam to the fellowship is the representation of the Shire and all things good that they're fighting for, he has a sort of purity of innocence, curiosity, loyalty and trusting friendship that makes up the good in the world.... and when they've desrtoyed the ring and things go back to being safe he no longer has to be a representation any more
you dont really realise it but sam had a bigger part to play than many realise, just because he doesnt get a direct token of gratitude doesnt mean that he hasnt been rewarded for his part, i mean hey, he got the girl!!

Yeah...it really was hard on poor Sam. I don't understand why the pitty was all on Frodo...he seemed to me too wimpy and babyish to get any credit. Still, I like Frodo, just for putting his butt out into danger and leaving his home, but I like Same more because he was there to serve Frodo and in the end....actually save middle earth! YAY FOR SAM!!! FOR SAM!!!

sam is definately the unsung hero of the movies/books. he put up with a lot of frodo's crap and stuck by him even into the heart of mount doom.
Bravo Sam ol' chap!

Sam is the true hero. He is the impitimy of a normal human who saves the world from destruction. If he was never there to help frodo, frodo probably would've died or been consumed by the ring.
