Turin is right but Gandalf shouldnt have described Valinor to Pippin in movie since when he dies he goes to the halls of Mandos. He might see Valinor while his sould goes to teh halls but like whatever. I wonder what its like on teh inside of the halls.

HEY Galadrial (ok cant spell it u know the elf lady of lorien) never says he will die, in the movie she just says the quest will claim his life, and since he left with the elves to valinor it kinda did.

I don't really think she meant "claim his life" as in death. I think Galadriel was trying to saw that if the quest is successful, it will haunt Frodo forever and he will never be able to get back to the life he had before the quest.

I think dispite what it said in the Silmarrillion Peter Jackson was trying to give the impression to the audience that that Frodo was kind of dieing/ going to heaven. Thats why he had Gandalf describe what death as being like going in the West. And also had Galadriel saying "the Quest will Claim his life"
It also might make more sense to the people who hadn't read the books than going in to a disscusion about Valinor etc.. etc

Frodo was mentally and physically injured, so he left to Valinor to be free from worry and help free himself from the pain the Quest left him with.
Basically, everything Turin said was correct....although I'm not sure about the thing about Valar being able to grant immortality. It seems that only Iluvatar would be able to do that because he was the one who made Men and other creatures mortal. But then of course, Earendil was made immortal.....so maybe Frodo could've been given unending life. But who knows whether Frodo would've wanted that?

ok. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. What I meant by dying was that he goes off into the west which is like going to Heaven and many people consider that dying.

They didn't exactly die.. they went to Valinor, which I suppose could in fact be Middle Earth's Heaven. However, I'm disinclined to say that passing over to Valinor means they died. The Noldor Elves came from Valinor alive and well, after all.

Frodo doesn't die.You see when men die in middle-earth they go to some place like heaven but whenever elves die they have to fend for themselves so they go to the grave havens so they could live forever in peace. So sweet old Frodo is still alive. But he is forever living with elves.Nothing happened to him sweetie.
