I found photos on the net of a deleted scene with Arwen at helm's deep (and a BEAUTIFUL costume for it)... does anyone know anything about this?
Did it make it into the extra features of the Extended version?

They had filmed it but later on after word got out about the scenes on the internet and the bad fan reaction to it. They scrapped it and had Arwen back at Rivendell and using flashback sequences to explain her love and passion for Aragorn. There are stills up as you've seen. Plus if you freeze frame your dvd during certain parts of the Helms Deep battle..mainly after the charge of the Rohirrim down the hill, you'll see her there on Asfaloth.
Hope that was of some help.

I've put this last pic on a link as it is quite large and I don't want it to distort the page.
Heres the link to the actual site for other bits n bobs. Some good pics and some nice info.

[glow=purple,2,300] If you go to the LOTR costume making group... they have this huge website up (I believe it is www.alyscratch.com but I'm not sure about that) they have "research" material including promotional photos of the battle dress, designers sketches, how to make it, etc. and a ton of links to the websites that have photos of the deleted scene as well as some from the filming of it. (a couple of Arwen swinging a sword at an Orc side by side with Aragorn even) I was just wondering if the filmed scenes made it to the DVD Extras on the Extended version (I know they aren't in the film itself). I think it would be interesting to see just what they did that they decided to cut out. AND well I love clothes (I'm a woman, of course I love clothes) and the Promotional photos of that outfit are beautiful! [/glow]

i saw one of the stunt moves for arwen on a exented dvd version of the two towers and i thought it was cool what they were planning for arwen in the two towers. but its hard to picture such an elegant character in a battle scene, fighting.

[glow=purple,2,300] True she does seem very refined and elegant to be fighting... it seems out of character, but it IS a gigantic war, eventually everyone would have to fight, espeically those who are heavily invested in the conflict as she is.
Also in Fellowship she DOES draw a sword against the Nazgul. She never actually has to use it, but the fact that she is PREPARED to suggests she possibly knows how, and she IS an Elf after all, they are supposed to be more physically quick and agile than humans. As a "superior" being she had to serve SOME purpose other than just sitting arround and being pretty and feeling emotional. I mean she HAS to be more interesting than just an emotional "orniment".
I mean it is hard to immagine she is an immortal and she hasn't mastered any skills other than love and feeling emotions. Fellowship suggested she was a skillful rider, and well... the simple fact that she raises the Hadhafang sword (more than once... she is introduced in the movie by putting the sword to Aragorn's neck, in addition to drawing it against the Nazgul) suggests she is comfortable with the use of it. All i can say is thank god they didn't put her at Helm's Deep and the Pelannor Fields!! Then she would have completely spoilt the film more than she already had.

[glow=Purple,2,300] Which is all a matter of opinion mind you.
I don't know I saw the movies first then read the books... and honestly in the books I was let down that Arwen was pretty much just the stereo typical princess. In the movies she had a more FULL personality and you could see why Aragorn loved her. If the movies followed the book too closely when it came to Arwen, I think people would have wanted Aragorn to end up with Eowyn because they had MUCH more incommon and seemed like they would have a more complete and rewarding relationship with eachother.
For the record, I am glad Arwen got cut from Helm's deep... I thought her role in the movie was properly balanced enough to emotionally connect her to the story. STILL though, the costume they designed for her to battle in was very pretty and I wish we could have seen more of it. Hopefully it will make it into the ROTK Extended version DVD extras. That is the great thing about DVDs they don't have to ruin the movie with the cut stuff, but you can still see some of the nifty things that didn't fit in the film. [/glow]
