(Gollum looks worshipfully at Frodo.)
Gollum: Good Smeagol. Always helps.

(Gandalf and the three companions looking at Edoras.)
Gandalv: Edoras and the Golden Hall of Meduseld. There dwells Théoden, King of Rohan, whose mind is overthrown. Saruman's hold over King Théoden is now very strong.
(Inside the Golden Hall) Éowyn: My lord, your son, he is dead. My lord? Uncle?
Éowyn: Will you not go to him? Will you do nothing?
(Where the companions are again) Gandalv: Be careful what you say. Do not look for welcome here.

<Scene: Theodred's room. Theodred lies dead, and Eowyn holds his hand and cries.>
(Grima enters.)
Grima: Oh, He... he... m-m-must have died s-s-sometime in the night. What a tragedy for the King to loose his only son and heir. I understand his parting is hard to accept especially now that you brother has deserted you. (Grima sits on the bed.)

Gríma: I understand his passing is hard to accept, especially now that your brother has deserted you.
Éowyn: Leave me alone you snake!
Gríma: Oh, but you are alone! Who knows what you have spoken to the darkness. In bitter watches of the night, when all your life seems to shrink, the walls of your bower closing in about you, like a hutch to trammel some wild thing in. So fair, so cold, like a morning pale spring still clinging to winter's chill.
Éowyn: Your words are poison!

Eowyn runs out to the veranda and sees riders approaching. A gust pulls a flag from it's pole and it is carried on the wind. It falls to the ground near Aragorn as he reaches the gate to Edoras.)
(The villagers are dressed in black. They look forlorn as the riders come through town.)
Gimli: You'll find more cheer in a graveyard.

Gandalf:Ah.
Háma: I cannot allow you before Théoden-King so armed, Gandalf Greyhame. By order of Gríma Wormtongue.
Háma:Your staff.
Gandalf: Hmm? Oh. No, you would not part an old man from his walking stick?
Gríma: My lord, Gandalf the Grey is coming. He's a herald of woe.
Gandalf: The courtesy of your hall is somewhat lessened of late, Théoden King.
Gríma: He's not welcome.
Théoden: Why should I welcome you, Gandalf? Stormcrow!
Gríma: A just question, my liege. Late is the hour in which this conjurer chooses to appear. Lathspell spell I name him. Ill news is an ill guest.
Gandalf: Be silent! Keep your forked tongue behind you teeth. I have not passed through fire and death to bandy crooked words with a witless worm!
Gríma: His staff! I told you to take the wizard's staff!
Gandalf: Théoden, son of Thengel, too long have you sat in the shadows.
Gimli: I would stay still, if I were you.
Gandal: Listen to me! I release you from the spell.
Théoden:Hahahhhahahahah! You have no power here, Gandalf the Grey!
Théoden: Argh!
Gandalf: I shall draw you, Saruman, as poison is drawn from a wound.
Aragorn: Wait.
Théoden: [With Saurman's voice.] If I go. . . Théoden dies.
Gandalf: You did not kill me, you will not kill him!
Théoden: Rohan is mine!
Gandalf: Be gone!!
**I know this is a bit long, but I had little to do... And, it is not an entire scene...**

(We see Saruman fall backwards in his tower of Orthanc. He has a nasty bruise on his forehead)
(Gandalf sighs deeply. Eowyn rushes to Theoden and catches him before he collapses. The visible signs of the spell on Theoden vanish as he becomes young again.)
Theoden: I know your face. Eowyn!

Theoden: I know your face. Eowyn. Eowyn. (Turns to look around.) Gandalf?
Gandalf: Breathe the free air again, my friend.
Theoden: Dark have been my dreams of late. (Theoden stands carefully, looking unsure.)
Gandalf: Your fingers would remember their old strength better, if they grasped your sword.
(Hama brings him his sword. Theoden pulls it from its scabbard. He stands taller, and then looks around. His eyes land on Grima who shudders.)

(They throws Grima out) Grima: "Send me not from your side, my lord. I have only ever served you!" Théoden: "You would have me crawling on all fours like a beast!"

Grima: Send me not from your side.
(Theoden readies to kill Grima with his sword, Aragorn grabs his hand.)
Aragorn: No, my lord! No, my lord. Let him go. Enough blood has been spilt on his account.
(Grima scrambles to his feet and runs toward the gates, pushing aside bystanders.)
Grima: Get out of my way!
Villager (or Aragorn): Hail! Theoden King!
(Grima rides out of the city.)
(The people kneel to their King. Aragorn also kneels.)
Theoden: (Turning, looking at those around him.) Where is Theodred? Where is my son?

(We see Theodred's funeral being held outside of Edoras. Everyone is very sad and you can hear people crying. As Theodred's body is lowered into its resting place Eowyn begins chanting.)
Eowyn: La la (I have no idea what the words are. sorry!)
(As the song ends the door to the crypt closes with a loud and ominous noise.)

<Scene: Theoden holds a flower and lets it go. He and Gandalf are standing near the tombs outside Edoras.>
Theoden: Simbelmyne. Ever has it grown on the tombs of my forbearers. Now it shall cover the grave of my son. Alas that these evil days should be mine. The young perish, and the old linger. That I should live to see the last days of my house.
Gandalf: Theodred's death was not of your making, Theoden.
Theoden: No parent should have to bury their child. (Theoden kneels and breaks down in tears.)
Gandalf: He was strong in life, his spirit will find its way to the halls of your fathers. Westu hal. Ferdu, Theodred, Ferdu. [Be thou well. Go-thou, Theodred, go-thou.]
(The two children from the Rohan village appear on a their horse on a hill. Eothain falls off. They are taken into Meduseld and given food.)

Éowyn: They had no warning, they were unarmed. Now the wildmen are moving through the westfold, burning as they go. Rick, cot, and tree.
Freyda: Where is mamma?
Éowyn: (Laying a blanket over the girl’s shoulders) Shh.
Gandalf: (to Théoden) This is but a taste of the terror Saruman will unleash All the more potent for he is driven mad by fear of Sauron. Ride out and meet him head on. Draw him away from your women and children. You must fight.
Aragorn: You have two thousand good men riding north as we speak. Éomer is loyal to you. His men will return and fight for their King.
Théoden: (Rising from his throne) They will be three hundred leagues from here by now. Éomer cannot help us. I know what it is you want of me, but I will not bring further death to my people. I will not risk open war.
Aragorn: Open war is upon you, whether you would risk it or not.
Théoden: When I last looked, Théoden, not Aragorn, was King of Rohan.
Gandalf: Then what is the King’s decision?

<Scene: Outside Meduseld. People are preparing to evacuate.> Hama: By order of the king, the city must empty. We make for the refuge of Helm's Deep. Do not burden yourself with treasures; take only what provisions you need.
(Gandalf and Aragorn rush through the street to the stables, followed by Legolas and Gimli.)
Gimli: Helm's Deep! They flee to the mountains when they should stand and fight. Who will defend them if not their king?
Aragorn: He is only doing what he thinks is best for his people. Helm's Deep has saved them in the past.

Gandalf: "Theoden has a strong will, but I fear for him. I fear for the survival of Rohan. He will need you, Aragorn. Their defences must hold!"
