Me niether, I guess Middle-earth's concept of love is differnet, purer. And it would be nice if it applied to our world as well. Unfortunately, I can't see that happening! Perhaps when Tolkien was writing, "love at first sight" applied more because people did marry people they'd known for very little time, I think because the reasons people married were often different. I know that happens today, but they often don't last, and in Tolkien's time perhaps it was more common to meet some one, fall in love and have it all work out. Especially if one met less people than nowdays... just a theory...?

That could very well be true. Because just from the way life is. I mean, if you kind of look at it all Arwen, Luthien, Celebrian, and Eowyn haven't met very many people outside of there usually group. Arwen is usually just in Rivendell or Lorien. Luthien seems to have the same pattern every year. But not only that, I think the beauty of people in Middle-earth, represents their goodness.
