when did you really had emotions during the film? Was it the ending, was it some one dying? On what part you really felt like...wow?

If you're talking it about the film, maybe you should move it to the movie discussion.

Are we talking only about RotK? In that case, with the scouring of the Shire. That was really full of emotions. It's also my favorite part of Lotr

I've only read the books once (so far) so I can't remember that clearly. I cried at the Grey Havens, I know that. I was playing that song on the soundtrack at the exact same time, and it brings tears to my eyes at this very moment. It was really emotional for me, ending the books for the first time. I think I cried when the Ring was destroyed, and at the Return of the King. Many times throughout the book I had teary eyes.

I put it off for almost six months because I couldn't bare to read the last bit... because then there would be no more Lord of the Rings... The I realised that there is more... the Sil., Unfinished Tales and so on.... Yes, the Grey Havens part in the book is really sad...

The end of both movie and book is really sad and that's why I'm not enjoying reading/watching it, it's so sad when Frodo is leaving... !

My emotion would be when Frodo was in the cave and about to get eaten by the spider!

I didn't want the book to end either But I also couldn't wait to read the end, and I wanted to finish it to read the Sil. I had all kinds of mixed emotions, lol. The Grey Havens was so sad:(

The most emotional part for me, I think, was Frodo leaving for Valinor. I was so depressed... oh! and I was reading the Shelob part late at night and got freaked out. LOL

I know I hated the finality sense at the end of the books.
Tolkien was telling us then that there isn't going to be another series, this is the end of ends.

Yeah..Scouring of Shire really held a lot of emotions. I felt a lot of anger on behalf of Frodo, for not getting the recognition he deserves. it shows that sometimes, you can do so much, but it just depends on whether other people know about it or not. Honour in battle, thats what seems to count. Grey Havens..the last chapter, Tolkien really did not put enough emotion into that chapter. Wow, he couldve explained some more emotions of the characters. I noticed that a lot in the book. He put in so many descriptions, the vivid details and plot and action was stunning, beyond anything I had ever read before. But explaining the emotions of the characters, developing the characters and their personalities, delving deeper into all that..he left it halfdone, unfinished, not as good as I expect from books generally. if only he'd done that, it would have been a perfect book.

Well, I had emotions throughout all the scenes, but maybe especially the part where Theoden is dying on the ground, and Eowyn is crying over him.
