I must say: Each version of Mount Doom was perfect for what it was in. I love, love looove the book, I really realllly looooooved(hehe, sorry ;D ) the part just before they go into MD, with the confrontation of Frodo and Gollum, and then when Sam lets him go....sigh...I was hoping that would be in the movie, but I do understand that it wouldn't have made much sense, especially since they were emphasizing Sam and Smeagol's hate for each other, and not emphasizing the fact that Sam wore the Ring, I say, if you don't read the books, you wouldn't even KNOW he wore the Ring.
Also, I am very glad they did MD the way they did in the movies. Ya gotta admit, if Gollum only fell, and quckly at that, that would be terrible, I repeat terrible, because when you have a movie that is in total about 7 hours or something like that, the last thing you wanna do is give it a quick ending. It worked perfectly for the book, but big no-no for a movie. And what they did to make it longer was totally believable, and it made it realy exciting too. I mean, even if you've read the book, weren't you still scared out of your wits thinking Frodo was gonna fall?(Okay, I knew he would live obviously, but that just shows how good the movie is, if you get nervous even if you've seen it a billion times already ;D )
But I MUST say, I was really, really, really wanting to hear Gollum's last lines. I even have it memorized exactly: "Precious! Precious! Precious! My precious, Oh my Precious!!!"
(insane, I know I am)
And I found that insanely hilarious when Gollum was "flying". Definately not what I had imagined. I thought he would be more like, standing on the ground grappling with Frodo.
Hahahahah!!!
Okay, so now you know how crazy I am. That is one of the most amazing scenes, and this is definately the longest post I've ever written on any forum! ;D
