I know there were no elves at Helms Deep, but I thought that was some cool symbolism in the movie.

I missed the Palantir and Saruman stuff being in TTT...and then they put the Palantir in ROTK except it was really lame and there was no Saruman!!
I hated the Faramir stuff...and the Helm's Deep stuff... and almost everything.
Above all, I miss the actual story and storytelling that was in the second volume.

The changes in Faramir got me angry. But I did get used to it and the EE made me happier. We saw more of the 'real' Faramir.

yeah the first time I saw it I was annoyed about the changes in Faramir but after seeing the EE it all kind of made sense. Oh and I didn't think the ents were done that well, surely the should be taller than the normal trees not smaller

I missed all the good Faramir parts (although I understood the filmmakers' reasoning after seeing the extended DVD), and the Voice of Saruman. I also didn't like the Aragorn-falls-off-a-cliff-and-dies-and-returns part, but that's not something I "missed"--just something that never needed to be in there.

The stuff I really missed being in the Two Towers was the stuff that was put in RotK - Shelob and stuff. I understand why they ended FotR when they did; it needs closure etc. - but TTT could (and should, in my opinion) have been ended after Shelob - it's just more dramatic.
The film opens with two hobbits going to Mordor . . . and ends with two Hobbits going to Mordor. They don't seem to have moved very far, do they? I know they do, but the impression is hard to shake off.
And the idea that Frodo is captured by the enemy would have been a great clifhanger for those who don't know the story!

Maybe it went between the rings? Or actually penetrated it? Or maybe he got stabbed in a bit covered neither by his armour nor his group insurance policy?
